This is gonna be interesting, on the one hand it does increase the prestige of Summerslam, on the other Mania weekend is a lot, you don't wanna hit some form of burnout
I am curious how they treat it though, because over time, Mania had become less about ending a lot of stories before Cody finally won the belt, I wonder if Summerslam would start becoming a show where loose ends could be more tied up and new stories made across the two nights.
We'll see, I'd definitely cap the two night events here though lol

Making it two nights has to be a "record gate" type plot right?

Either they’re getting greedy again, or this is a make good to Minneapolis because “sorry, we don’t to put mania here”. Maybe both. And the cold weather shouldn't be a deal breaker, the stadium is indoors and the Twin Cities have The Skyway.

I'm only OK with this if they make it into a "A Night Made In Heaven" and "A Night Made In Hell" deal in tribute to what will be the 35th Anniversary of SummerSlam: A Match Made In Heaven...And A Match Made In HELL!

Hmm....
This is certainly news. Obvious it's all about the money for TKO. I just don't know if it can sustain 2 night events if and when the product cools down.
Can they make a "kayfabe news" reason for moving to one night?
This is certainly a risk down the road.

with the comparsion of WrestleMania being WWE's "Avengers Endgame", this is very much like Disney being like "oh you guys like Marvel? lets throw 48 TV Shows on Disney+ that all continue the story!" They need to be very careful about burning out the audience they have, especially when the SmackDown viewership will fall when they switch back from Over the Air to Cable in the fall.

I think this is them starting to make SummerSlam a huge summertime destination. Kinda like a music festival or WM I don't see them doing that with the Rumble in the wintertime.

Since WWE has opened up this fox hole.
What other shows would likely have 2 nights?
Rumble, yes, 2 rumbles can main event each night.
Chamber, no. The appeal isn't as strong,
Mania, already done.
Backlash, no.
Saudi. Definitely. WWE milks this thing dry. Queen one night main event, King the other night.
Clash. No, but I see them squeezing the European markets into a second show.
MITB, yes, women's one night main event, men's the other.
Summerslam coming in 2026.
September PLE, no.
October PLE, no.
Survivor Series, I want to say no. But WWE could main event both WAR GAMES as main events.
December PLE, they don't seem to run them anymore.

The fact that this is announced now for 26 instead of 25 really has me interested in what city is hosting next year…

I don't mind the 2 night thing for Mania, but during most of the year, I just prefer the streamlined PPV's that are around 3 hours long.
When you add a bunch of talent to a card because "they deserve it", it's usually at the expense of the fans.

They run a Smackdown, then Clash and then Raw, and have each show in different venues but all in a certain radius. For example, this year could have seen Smackdown and Clash in Glasgow, but then Raw in Edinburgh.

Coming in 2027, Raw goes to two nights, because reasons.
I just don't understand how anyone keeps up with this. Apparently the product is actually pretty good now, but I don't want to start watching it again because I can't handle this relentless barrage of new content. I know this isn't for another two years, but it's just indicative of the "more is more" attitude of the world in 2024.

The fact that this is announced now for 26 instead of 25 really has me interested in what city is hosting next year… I'm calling Indy. Keeps the midwest location that SummerSlam's been at for 23, 24, and 26, and an indoor stadium. Also Indy can more than handle whatever accommodations that WWE and visitors coming in will need. One other reason is that the midwest won't get a Mania thanks in large part due to weather (can get a severe storm or freezing cold with a blizzard), but rotating SummerSlam is good.

I don’t like the fact that summerslam will two nights as I feel since they’ve gone to Saturdays, a PPV being on Sunday should be reserved for mania only imo.
Also, announcing a PPV over two years before it takes place is a new one on me. WWE have never announced a show more then a year ahead before have they ?

Also wonder if there comes a point wrestlers push back as I believe they get a flat rate and don't really see any additional pay or bonuses for the additional shows. Might be wrong on that though.

Otherwise the first night is going to die quick, especially if they announce which night is which main event.
