Here are my NXT Battleground Thoughts:
My Battleground Picks. Tonight is very unpredictable, but I'll give my best shot: Williams, Perez, Femi, Axiom/Frazer, Ruca, Vice.
I like the different looks at the Ladder Match participants & their preparations for tonight. The rest of the Countdown wasn't anything special.
Awesome opening video. The UFC Apex looks cool & different than a usual arena. Sexxy Red was awful, but hopefully she won't be used that much.
Vic Joseph is right. There are 9 men wrestling on the card & 10 women. Booker T has only been in 1 Ladder Match in WWE, the MITB Match at Mania 23.
Fallon Henley VS Kelani Jordan VS Lash Legend VS Michin VS Jaida Parker VS Sol Ruca was incredible. All 6 women were fantastic. And even I feel bad for Lash Legend & what happened to her. I am so happy for Kelani. I have seen her grown from Level Up to the 1st Women's North American Champion. My Battleground Picks: 0 for 1.
What a waste of time showing the Commentator's Reactions video. This was posted on all of WWE's social media. Tonight should be all about NXT.
Axiom & Nathan Frazer VS The O.C. was pretty good. Hopefully this means The O.C. is done with NXT & they go back to the main roster with AJ Styles. MY BATTLEGROUND PICKS: 1 for 2.
Now, they're repeating promos that we saw already on NXT TV.
Shayna Baszler VS Lola Vice was awful as expected. There's a reason why I don't watch MMA & only watch wrestling. I think it's time for WWE to get rid of NXT Underground. Also, the lighting was awful & what's the point of the "fans" on the outside if they fight outside of the ring. They should have had Sexxy Red come out and rap than do that awful match. MY BATTLEGROUND PICKS: 2 for 3.
And again more videos that we saw. I'm still mad that they ignored Tatanka.
OK segment with Sexxy Red & Kelani Jordan.
Easy Records next month, as it will be the 1st ever Heatwave PPV, so it will be everyone's 1st event.
Booker T was in 7 Televised Triple Threat Matches in his Career.
www.cagematch.net/?id=2&nr=642&view=&page=4&search=Triple+Threat&gimmick=&year=&promotion=1®ion=&location=&arena=&showtype=TV-Show%7CPay+Per+View%7CPremium+Live+Event%7COnline+Stream&constellationType=&worker=Joe Coffey VS Oba Femi VS Wes Lee was awesome. I have no idea where they found Femi. He's a monster with amazing strength. MY BATTLEGROUND PICKS: 3 for 4.
What's the point of showing Finn Balor VS Kevin Owens at Takeover Brooklyn & now the same Wendy Choo video we saw on Tuesday? So many segments to waste time tonight. Just focus on the wrestling.
I still can't believe we are seeing NXT VS TNA. It is so surreal seeing each company talk about the other. Jordynne Grace had a busy week. She wrestled on NXT, defended her KO Title successfully on Impact on Thursday, & now she's wrestling on NXT PPV.
Jordynne Grace VS Roxanne Perez was an excellent match. They gave their blood, sweat, & tears. I love Tatum Paxley coming out & then Dana Brooke (or Ash by Elegance) to set-up Jordynne's challenger for TNA Against All Odds on Friday. MY BATTLEGROUND PICKS: 4 for 5.
More TNA personalities on Battleground. Tom Phillips' voice part of the
Drew McIntyre video, which shouldn't be on an NXT PPV. I get them wanting to promote Clash At The Castle, but everyone that's watching Battleground will be watching on Saturday. The spotlight & focus should be on the NXT wrestlers.
Stupid segment with Sexxy Red & Lola Vice.
Damn, Gallus attacked Wes Lee. Maybe The Rascalz will help Lee on Tuesday. Cool, Cody Rhodes will be on NXT.
What ever happened to weights & where the wrestlers are from for introductions? I miss the Fink.
Trick Williams VS Ethan Page was pretty good. Not bad for Page's 1st NXT mach. It was a clean win. I thought there would be interference so Page can still look in his loss, but everyone loses their 1st NXT match. MY BATTLEGROUND PICKS: 5 for 6.
Here are my NXT Battleground Match Rankings:
1) Fallon Henley VS Kelani Jordan VS Lash Legend VS Michin VS Jaida Parker VS Sol Ruca
2) Jordynne Grace VS Roxanne Perez
3) Joe Coffey VS Oba Femi VS Wes Lee
4) Trick Williams VS Ethan Page
5) Axiom & Nathan Frazer VS The O.C.
6) Shayna Baszler VS Lola Vice
Besides the NXT Underground Match & all of the pointless videos, Battleground was really good. It wasn't a barn-burner NXT PPV like we usually have, but I still enjoyed the show.
