Before Dan Akroyd even put pen to paper, there was a short lived Saturday morning show called The Ghost Busters
Meat Load had wanted to produce Its All Coming back to Me before Celine Dion got a hold of it
Marvel Published a pulp magazine called The X Man during its early days as The Goodman Group, decades before Stan Lee conceived the mutant team

Without You - often people think Harry Nilsson did the original when it was a Badfinger song first, though covers like the Mariah Carey's are way more similar to the Nilsson version.

Before Dan Akroyd even put pen to paper, there was a short lived Saturday morning show called The Ghost Busters This is not really the same thing as The Filmation version and The movie version are not related. It IS why the Ghostbusters cartoon is called "the REAL Ghostbusters" because Filmation made an animated version of the Ghost Busters.

I think a huge number of people in the UK don't know that She's the One by Robbie Williams is a cover, even though it was written by his main collaborator I thought it was written by Karl Wallinger. Wasn’t Williams’ main collaborator Guy Chambers? I know Chambers was in World Party too but didn’t think he wrote Shes’s the One. I looked it up, you're right, of course

Quiet Riot's Come On Feel the Noize was a cover of Slade.

Quiet Riot's Come On Feel the Noize was a cover of Slade. OK we're doing song covers. Here's a big one for me. Jive Soul Bro and Grab Them Cakes were not created by the WWF.

I didn't know until a few years ago that The 5th Dimension song "Wedding Bell Blues (Marry Me Bill)" was a cover. The original version is by Laura Nyro. I've heard The 5th Dimension version on Oldies radio for decades but never heard Laura's original version on the radio. Laura Nyro also wrote & sang "And When I Die" which went on to be a hit for Blood, Sweat & Tears.

I didn't know until sometime after watching 1983's "Scarface" that it was a remake of a 1932 film of the same name. I don't think a lot of people know about the 1932 film, though. My BD copy of Scarface came with the 1932 version on DVD

I didn't know "Istanbul, Not Constantinople." wasn't an original song by They Might Be Giants, but a cover until way later.

Oh, here's a slightly fun one.
In the UK, this band called the Cartoons had a hit single with a cover of the song 'Witch Doctor.' Most people my generation in the UK didn't know this was a cover.
In a weird coincidence, a Simpsons episode that premiered shortly before it featured Homer randomly singing this song, as in the original, and it was just assumed to be a reference to the Cartoons by UK people, when it wasn't.

I only just learned that Gone in 60 Seconds was a remake of a 1974 movie.

The Littlest Hobo the cheesy Canadian made tv show from the late 1970's/early 1980's about a stray German Sheppard that wandered across the country helping people in need was actually a remake of a show from the 1960's (They even reused some of the storylines from the original in the 80's version.)

I didn't see the original Transformers movie until it came out on VHS, so I didn't believe my friends who swore that Spike said "Oh shit!" in the theatrical version until the uncensored DVD came out many years later. The 5th Dimension's "Sweet Blindness" and Three Dog Night's "Eli's Comin'" were also originally by Laura Nyro.

"Waiting for Tonight" is one of J. Lo's signature songs, but the original recording was by the girl group 3rd Party in 1997.

Tough one to believe, but 911 is a Joke wasn’t originally performed by Duran Duran, it’s actually a cover of a Public Enemy song.
