Why do you need to replace Woj? Also Shams is already there?? Just says he’s a candidate, though I have no idea why you’d go with anyone else. I don’t know how well versed Jeff is in basketball compared to baseball, but considering their bar is SAS and Perkins, it probably doesn’t matter. That said, the fact that they’re considering him for the job raises some questions about the future of baseball on ESPN, but that’s a whole nother topic. Yeah that was my thought when I read that. ESPN hasn’t cared about baseball for at least 10 years, if not longer, but moving Passan to NBA coverage would pretty much destroy the one positive in that entire relationship. My guess is ESPN will throw a monster bag at Shams and this is just BS to pretend like they have any leverage, but the fact that this is even a consideration makes me think ESPN and MLB won’t be together for much longer.

There were better defensive players than Mutombo in the history of the NBA. But not many. RIP.

RIP Dikembe Mutombo.
Arguably one of the most memorable players in NBA history and truly one of a kind.

My favorite part about this commercial is how he hits the sealed box of cereal so hard the cereal just explodes out of it

That sucks. I liked him in the Geico commercial, and first saw him in NBA Jam. RIP.

This sucks. My dad told me of Mutombo back when we watched basketball a bit. He was one of my favorites that wasn't on the Bulls. And his finger wag was always fun. A true great on and off the court.
RIP to one of my favorites.
Mutombo Then. Mutombo Now. Mutombo Forever.

Personally felt Mutumbo should've been on the 75 Greatest list. We'll always have that shot of him holding the ball in utter joy in Seattle at Key Arena.

Let's not kid ourselves, ESPN will pay whatever it takes to hire Shams Charania away from The Athletic, then in a year or two they'll undergo another round of layoffs to justify the price tag.
