Ivan Drago killed Apollo Creed right in front of Rocky, pummeled Rocky so badly that Rocky not only immediately retired but also still physically felt the damage decades after the fight and trained his son so well that he nearly killed Creed’s son in the ring.
And then the Soviet state took everything from Drago after he lost to Rocky! Just bleak outcomes all around.

Pretty much the definition of a total victory, even after the fact he already won. Don't know this one ,where it's from ?

Hasn't Kingpin done this to Daredevil a couple of times?

"The Great Silence." A classic Italian spaghetti western that does the unthinkable in a memorable way:
{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} The image is of the main antagonist, Loco. He guns down both the protagonist (Silence) and his love interest, and rides off into the sunset with his gang.
It's a jarring scene for those used to the heroes prevailing, but absolutely leaves its mark.

The Time Lords in Doctor Who, circa The War Games.
The Doctor is forced to call on them to help sorting out the aftermath of the main plot, after being (as we discover) on the run from them in a stolen TARDIS the entire run of the series. Not only do they take away his freedom, stranding him on Earth with the knowledge of how to pilot his ship taken from his mind, they wipe the minds of his best friends and drop them back in their own times so that they've never known him. Also they basically kill him, ending that regeneration forcefully.

Hasn't Kingpin done this to Daredevil a couple of times? At least once: In "Fall from Grace", where Kingpin learns Daredevil is Matt Murdock. The Ur-Example of the trope in comics I think. Dr. Octopus one ups Fisk when he literally swaps bodies with his archenemy Spider-Man, leaving Peter to die in his own terminally ill shell. Though one could argue Spidey ultimately wins in the end, not only because he comes back but as he's 'dying' he convinces Doc Ock to live by the "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility" mantra he did.

Good plan, going in blind on it is absolutely something I highly recommend, only put the spoilers in there for those who are curious and hate surprises.

My fav western of all time just wanted to mark out for the mention of it in here. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} But it absoloutley f***ing rips out your heart with how it ends and is super divisive amongst its fans....there is the deleted scene which is the happy ending. though...non canon as it may be.

Ok SPOILERS for a really old comic. But one that if you like Capestuff comics you should read.
The Creator took everything away from Buddy aka Animal Man. His family and everything he cared for.
