This was actually really common in the early days of television. In Adventures of Superman (the 50's TV series), actor Tris Coffin played four different characters over the run of the show, two of them a week apart. And there was like a half dozen actors on the show doing similar. Not just the early days. Shows in the 80s loved reusing actors. Dukes of Hazzard, Knight Rider, A Team, MacGyver.. and thats just shows I watched. By the 90s and VCRs they backed off some. Star Trek and B5 still lived doing it but they had the advantage of heavy makeup. JG Hertzler was playing a major recurring role on DS9 and also played a new character on one episode. |

Same franchise but not the same series, but Robert Duncan McNeill was corrupt cadet Nicholas Lorcano in an episode of Star Trek TNG. He went on to join the main cast of Voyager as Tom Paris. He also directed one of my favorite episodes of Enterprise: Twilight.

I honestly didn’t know he was Goldmember too Weren’t all these movies promoted on Mike Myers playing all the characters? I didn’t know it was possible to not know this. Depends on how much attention you paid to the ads at the time, or if you watched it after the fact rather than during the original release. |

Because I am an old, this has happened on Law & Order a few times to my knowledge.
Courtney B. Vance played a murderer in L&O episode Rage, then was later cast as ADA Carver in L&O: Criminal Intent.
Later Jeremy Sisto played a defense attorney in an episode of Law & Order, only to come back the very next season as Iraq war veteran Detective Lupo.
In Criminal Intent, Raul Ezparza played a cross-dressing killer only to show up later in the Law & Order universe as ADA Barba.

I only watch the OG show and the case they need to be investigating is why so many people have identical twins running around. Right out after they investigate why every single person they know, but we as an audience do not, is a corrupt criminal and they seem to only know other cops and lawyers……oh!!!!!! |

Barney Miller is full of this. Example: In season 2, Steve Landesburg played a priest using stolen Bibles and later played Deidrich for the rest of the series.

Brian Thompson played both Luke the vampire and The Judge on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Here's a good one, Ted Raimi, who played Joxer the Mighty, on Xena, also played Xena herself. Thompson also played the Horseman of War and the Titan Cronus in Charmed. Speaking of Charmed, Michael Bailey Smith, who mostly played Cole's demon form Belthazor, also played The Source of All Evil, as well as The Source's assassin Shax. Clearly it happens a lot in general, but it seems to really get abused on shows where the character is under a lot of make up. Charmed, Buffy/Angel, and DS9 in particular have a lot of examples of people making three or more appearances, often as different beings. |

On Family Matters, the leader of the "Dragons" (Chain) later played Laura's boyfriend (Curtis) a few seasons later.
I mean, I guess they could have been the same person within the context of the show (Chain's real name was never revealed in that episode), but Laura dating the guy who beat the piss out of her brother years earlier would have been a pretty lousy thing to do.

And you didn’t notice. For me, it blew my mind when I learned that Amy Yasbeck was both the bitchy red head wife in problem child one and the nice new dark haired girlfriend in problem child 2. When I was a kid I was always trying to figure out which character she played in 2. I didn't think to look at the credits and this was pre internet boom where you can just search anything. Matlock season 7-9 had some people playing two or three different characters per season. The show was taped in North Carolina then so maybe not as many choices of actors compared to California. One actor played, I think six different characters. Matlock seasons also saw a few main cast members play a different role a season or so before being cast to the main credits. |

In the James Bond film The Living Daylights, Joe Don Baker plays a villainous arms dealer named Brad Whitaker. Two films later, in Goldeneye, Joe Don is now playing Jack Wade, Bond's ally from the CIA.

The Flash is literally everyone plays someone else the show. Tom Cav alone probably holds the damn record for how many versions of Harrison Wells he played...and then reverse flash.  And that is not even all of them...TimeLess Wells is not listed. |

Even the bad episodes tend to have a lot of charm by virtue of Angela Lansbury being virtually incapable of turning in a bad performance. |

I believe a brown-haired Lisa Kudrow appeared on one episode of Mad About You before Ursula was introduced.
Jean Brassard (who used to be the heel commentator on Superstars alongside Ray Rougeau) played multiple older french guys on The Blacklist

Jodelle Ferland played a spooky little girl ghost in a Season 1 episode of Supernatural.
Then 14 years later in the final season she was on the show again playing a spooky young lady that turned out to be a witch.
All credit to her, she's really managed to make a decent career out of having a naturally spooky looking face!
