The combination of this post with the "Gooner" sig is perfect.

I’m starting to wonder if I ever knew what fun was. I’ve had years to think about it and I still don’t understand what was so funny about “Sweatsock” Lothario… Someone once had their autocorrect change Ric to Rice and he was called Rice Flair for about 12 years….you never know.

On one level, there is a missed widespread silliness of yesteryear on the forum (thinking specifically of like everything gets a photoshop usually Batista focused time), but even so you still see the funny spirit of the boards pretty regularly in the right threads. And as others have pointed out there was some RANK stuff back then so it wasn't all silly.
I take issue with reactions to recent discussions of social issues that get reactions like:
"I don't care about that, you're talking about it too much, let me have fun."
Or:
"I agree with the hateful people you're talking about and really want to go mask off but will take my time getting there."
One is obviously worse but both are not great for the vibes here. Most people here are really cool and it's very welcoming, but it is concerning that the voices like the latter feel like they're growing in volume more and more. I love it here but that growing volume does have me eyeing the door for a quick exit if things go full stupid.

I know I’m not an active poster so take my words with a grain of salt as I am someone that has thought that sometimes folks can take the wrestling thing too seriously around here, but I’ve never found it a problem to express that «Hey, maybe we shouldn’t support people who espouse transphobia?», it’s one of the things that have kept me here through the years. It is very concerning to see voices like that pop up, makes some threads grimy af, but at the same time I’m also seeing folks consistently try to shut that garbage down and I’m all for that.

Funny but true recent story. I recently met a new girl and invited her over to hang out by the pool. I'd normally grab some wine but she doesn't drink. So I randomly went to the bakery and bought a white strawberry cake. Moral of the story it's the best decision I've ever made. CAKE CAKE CAKE CAKE.

Well, we've gotta do something for the Liv Morgan fans, or else they'll spread all over this place.

I just got tired of it when I saw some idiot in the Tiffany Stratton thread going on about how he doesn't care if she's racist and we shouldn't either because lots of people are racist and might be in power again soon (and for the record I don't think Tiffany is racist, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt about posting that clip being a mistake). It's just like... f***ing REALLY, dude, are you this much of a mindless simp that you're going to tell people racism shouldn't bother them? People need some f***ing perspective. End rant.

There are absolutely some threads on here that I don't go near because I don't like the vibe of them. Some of the critique threads get unnecessarily mean instead of being critical but funny, for example.
But you make of the forum what you want to. If a thread isn't fun to you, then stop reading it. I think that racism/homophobia/transphobia etc should be called out and dealt with but if you find a thread not fun or just an absolute chore to read then exit and don't look back (until it turns into food talk)

I've been a long time lurker, and I can't help but notice how old and bitter we're becoming. FAN has now become the Cracked.com of online wrestling discussions. I'm talking about in the way of "ugh, we're so much better than you!" I just want to read about wrestling and cool things, not being told "why xyz is bad and you should feel bad," or "your favorite thing sucks and you're a stupid idiot for liking it." Like that Youtube Channels You Unsubscribe To thread. All what it did was bummed me out. I'm over here like, stop yelling at me, FAN! What did I do?

Back during the wrestlecrap days, there were people here who would start fights over the stupidest shit. And sometimes thinly veiled racist and misogynist comments.
I find it odd that anyone would think the current FAN is somehow meaner and less fun.

I don't even bother raising objections.

I find it odd that anyone would think the current FAN is somehow meaner and less fun. It's just the usual golden age fallacy. Too many people romanticise their past, forgetting all the bad stuff that also happened. Memories are very fallible like that. Rule of thumb should be if anyone ever tries to use a "good old days" pitch when trying to sell you on something, they're usually just priming you to consent to something really bad and/or shitty.
