I still have one, but it's on it's last legs. :-(

Mine is a VHS/DVD combo as well. I have way too many tapes (wrestling and baseball in particular) to not have a VCR. I might convert the tapes to DVD's at some point, but as long as the VCR portion is working, there's no need to make the switch.

Yeah and I use it every week for my wrestling. I'll be pulling double duty to watch the rejects on american idol I too have a vhs/dvd player/recorder. I actually prefer it over tivo because to save a tivoed show you have to record the entire show. With a vcr I can pick what I want and then put it on dvd without wasting a disc and then I have stuff to record over once i'm done with it.
I'm a happy DieselTrain that way.

If I had my picture taken with Christy Hemme, I'd be a happy DieselTrain, too. Oh wait, I'm not a DieselTrain to begin with.

About 2 years ago my place got broken into, replaced the PS2, stereo but decided I didn't have enough tapes to bother with the vcr. So I don't have one anymore

Yes, I still have a VCR and used it to record New Years Revolution tonight. I have another that works that I am not using though. I also got a DVD recorder for $40 at Wal Mart. You can the display copies for 1/2 off if you ask if they have any available, they usually have some cosmetic damage though.

Yes. Still have one. For recording wrestling or television shows I want to watch, but may not be around to see at first. Probably still might use it if I get a DirecTV DVR to record recorded shows.
THE VCR WILL NEVER DIE IN MY ESTIMATION!

I have an old, oooollllddddd VCR (c. 1984), which I still use for my dwindling tape collection - and also, cos I can't bear to part with it.

Funny stuff, the DVD player on my DVD/VHS player broke down, never saw that comin'. Anyways, I have a bunch of wrestling tapes and I have every episode of Doctor Who on tape from Jon Pertwee to Paul McGann, whichI cherish greatly. Really wish I could have had the opportunity to record some Troughton & Hartnell episodes before those wankers at the BBC erased almost all of their episodes.

Okay, new question... ever used your VCR to crack open walnuts? Yes. When I was beating the hell out of someone in a pawn shop. Took a VCR, swung it pendulum style right in the walnuts.

Yes, I use it for my wrestling tapes. In fact we just got a new one because the old one was broke.
P.S. - I'm boycotting these new formats. It's a scam. Nothing wrong with normal DVDs.
