With Raw on Netflix, Dynamite on Max, and PLEs being more accessible than Smackdown as well as NFL games being broadcasted on Peacock, Paramout Plus ect, I feel like cable will be non existent

I think so IMO streaming will never fully go away but the landscape of it all with the prices , with just the sheer ammount of content and so much of it getting lost between all the other content that no one even knows it probably exsists....Like an example I learned today there was a I know what you did last summer series like WTF when the hell did that happen?
Like it just feels like we will eventually circle back to TV maybe not over taking streaming as the primary option for people but it will be the cheaper option for people and easier way for networks to get shows and atleast guaranteed eyes on it instead of like no chance with the endless content drop of multiple streaming services and just basically throwing away money.

I don't even have it anymore. Just streamers anyway. Worth it for the saved money..
It "helps" that there's not many current shows I follow. Most of them ended or are ending.

I can see Cable still being a niche thing since people will want an alternative from streaming services if they keep being asshats. CDs are still a thing, I think it will be kind of like that.

Yes, because the streaming services have become just as big of a problem as cable. And cable is way more established than any of the streaming services.

Cable won't disappear before at least 2050. It's always going to be more convenient for certain populations that are large enough to warrant it. Same reason radio still survives when people have been predicting its death since the 80s.

I can see cable existing for a long time due to public places like restaurants, hotels, as well as Retirement Homes and Assisted Living facilities (since it's not cost effective for those type of places to shell out so much money for multiple streaming services).

I mean if cable is going to exist, they better make it cheap as f***. The streaming services, sure all together they cost as much as cable, but you can pick and choose which ones you want. Also live streaming is happening on streaming services and it’s only going to be more prevalent

Streaming services in the past few years have done a lot to diminish their stock with viewers. Part of it was likely learning the wrong lessons from their covid boom, but the past few years have been riddled with anticonsumer ideas.
When streaming started, the idea that you could watch something without commercials was amazing. Then they started giving you an entire season at once. In the early days many of the shows were pretty high quality as well. Plus there were fewer streaming services and the price was much much cheaper.
Now it seems like streaming services are I creasing prices every year, there are so many options that theirs elections have necessarily been diluted. The old prices now have commercials. Unless you're super selective about streaming services or rotate through them, it can quickly approach cable prices.
There is still the convenience of watch what you want, when you want, but the Lustre of streaming g has diminished a bit. I feel like that has bought at least a handful more years for cable.
Cable is also still quite entrenched among many demographics. Up in Canada, there are many rural areas that still don't have access to high speed internet. I suspect we aren't alone in that regard. Then there's the generational side of it. I'm 41 and I made the switch to streaming when I was in my 20s. However, my mom still has cable and likely always will.as boomers and possibly gen x age out, cable will likely diminish, but it will be a prolonged affair.

Maybe in certain parts of the world. Here in NZ Sky is pretty barebones. They've wrestled for years with retaining international sport, their profitability has fluctuated and they've branched out into lauching internet and their own streaming service. Would never surprise if eventually they folded the tv service and transitioned over to streaming fully.

You'll see cable transition into being streaming.
You won't have these seperate streaming channels but rather the cable networks being available via streaming.

Local news and Live Sports should keep it affloat imo. Sports is the one reason I still have it... however that Venu streaming platform that got nixed at the last minute by an injunction along with what I already have might've been able to get me off Cable/Live TV service.

Cable is a dying medium, but it hasn't really panned out that a la carte streaming services are any better/more efficient.
I have DirectTV Stream Ultimate (the highest tier offered) essentially for the sole purpose of having maximum access to sports (stuff like FS2, NHL Network, CBSSN, etc...). It costs me ~$100/month and also includes things like Food Network and Investigation Discovery that I like to just throw on when I don't feel like having to search for something to watch.
To otherwise have access to all of the stuff I want to watch would require:
Max - $17/month Peacock - $8/month Paramount+ - $8/month Apple TV+ - $10/month Hulu/Disney+/ESPN+ bundle - $18/month Netflix - $15.50/month Prime Video - $9/month
That ends up being $85.50/month. The exact same cost as DirectTV Stream's base package and $10 more expensive than YoutubeTV's base package. And if the streaming services were all you subscribed to, you would have very limited access to live sports programming, as ESPN+ really only shows small market and secondary sports. And nothing that is on the specialty sports networks like Bally.
It was one thing when you could share passwords with family and whatnot, but now that that's being cracked down on, is the streaming model really any better than traditional cable? I'm still skeptical.

I really hope so.
It speeds up the process of all this streaming shit eventually just becoming a new successor.

Haven't had cable since 2007. Had DISH and yea it cost too much and aint great. But until early this year the internet out here was fast enough but the data cap kept the house froom going streaming only.

I think cable is gonna settle into this cool new niche that’s super punk rock like old public access tv was. There’s so much opportunity for like horror hosts, podcasts, lesser known sports or talk shows whatever. That can find an audience on cable.

Local news and Live Sports should keep it affloat imo. That and the expansion of high speed internet access. I've only had fiber for a year now and the families behind me still don't have access.

What's cable TV like nowadays? Do they still show commercials and bumpers? If I'm watching primetime television, are there commercials advertising this week's episodes of shows?
