It feels like this SummerSlam weekend is kind of the perfect encapsulation of that Mick Foley quote about wrestling being a three-ring circus with enough variety so everyone can enjoy the show.

Saturday offers celebrity spectacle, larger-than-life personalities, and storylines you can sink your teeth into, but it's also bound to provide plenty in the way of what's sure to be solid in-ring professional wrestling.

Sunday, like Saturday, will have recognizable names to lapsed fans or newcomers, but it also should provide the kind of in-ring chaos and carnage that wrestling was sort of built on.

On the surface, Sunday is absolutely the better of the two cards, but come Monday morning, we could be looking back at CM Punk vs. Gunther as the match of the weekend.

I guess that is true as Gunther vs Punk and Jey/Roman teaming up are big time money matches.

I just think they could have switched one of the gimmick matches to Saturday for a little variety.

WWE's insane luck with weather at outdoor shows is forecast to continue this weekend. With the exception of the first night of WrestleMania 37, they've had incredible weather every time they've held a show outdoors.

Had SummerSlam been held just four days earlier, it would be in the middle of a terrible heat wave in which temperatures reached into the high 90s and high humidity made it feel even worse. Had it been two days earlier, the show would've gotten soaked by a heavy rainstorm that lashed the area.

Instead, they're looking at clear to partly cloudy skies, temperatures in the 70s, and no humidity to speak of for Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Way more excited for tmmw night but I care about opening and main event tonight so hoping the middle part of the show can surprise me.

Surely with WWE Speed probably no longer a thing they can have speed matches on the pre-show and not confined to just being on a social media platform.
