What is this "soda" you speak of? I drink pop. That said, I've never seen someone with as much passion for an anti-soda agenda as I have tonight. I may not agree with you, sir, but I applaud your voraciousness. The world needs more like you. As for the original point of the thread... totally agree. But it all goes in cycles. I remember when I first joined, at the end of the EZboard era and the early days here on proboards, I felt very out of place because I was just a silly little mark that enjoyed the Omega crew, but I just hung around because, ironically (at first), this is the only wrestling board I've ever actually felt comfortable hanging out at. And I don't know if things changed, or if I just got used to the people, but that snarky overtone on the board seemed to lift, and things have been much more pleasant for a while. But I agree, some of that "I'm better than you" feeling seems to be coming back, but at least now I can pinpoint it to a few certain posters. And for the record, I never get PMs either. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Okay, serious time.
I have to agree with Tenacious regarding the old EZBoards. Unfortunately, for a very long period of time, it was mostly just me and a couple others that were modding it, and things could get out of hand very quickly. People sometimes gripe about the number of mods we keep now, but I feel that you can never really have enough quality moderators. Unfortunately again, with summer having more or less started, a few of the current moderators have taken time off, which leaves the rest of us trying to cover bases. Which, in turn, leads to missing more of the unpleasantness.
However, that said, being outright asses just for the sake of being asses still isn't tolerated here, and if people seem to be getting away with running around telling everyone they suck, they need to be brought to our attention. But, as with any forum of this size, there's always going to be those that skirt the rules to accomplish their goals, and while we can't always "do" anything about them at times, we can and will the moment they slip.

I agree wholeheartedly, MC. I think the problem that was originally stated in this particular thread (clear back there on page 1, prior to the Soda Wars and the breakdown of the vending machines) was that it's not so much people breaking the rules as a general lack of intellectual intercourse within discussions, and a certain amount of elitism that has begun to come from that. I'd have to agree with both of those things. Unfortunately, if you wanna be a person to state "You're wrong" without providing a why, or want to engage in the stuff that's been discussed here in this thread without breaking the rules, the hands are rather tied when it comes to the Mods actions, are they not?
That being said, if people are being goofuses and generally doing the things we discussed, I imagine if we left them alone and ignored their posts, they'd cool it and go away. There's always going to be those people, and with a board this size with the amount of traffic it gets, you'll probably see more fleeting people than permanent fixtures if you ignore the riff-raff and stick with the quality discussions and posters.

Thanks Madison, and your work is much appreciated. And not to mention, with school being out, that can also lead to more "kids" being on the board since they're not in school. And with the internationalness of it all, there's nothing wrong with having a buttload of mods so that you always have somebody on the clock, so to speak.
And I don't think alot of people are really doing things "wrong," per se, as much as it is just that snarky attitude. It's like the woman who says "I'm not a b****, I just tell the truth without sugar-coating it." Technically, yes, she tells the truth (as it is to her, anyway), but it's done with that condescending attitude.
Basically, it's your older brother holding his hand an inch from your nose, going, "I'M NOT TOUCHING YOU!"

Absolutely. The inherent contradictions, though, lie in the fact that the board is built around a site that is about sometimes ocassionaly rude and tacky, but always funny and usually good-spirited, humor. Thus, we get a lot of people show up trying to duplicate that sort of thing, but they only get the rude and tacky part, without being able to deliver the funny and good-spirited side.
As far as being goofuses, I can sometimes get into my ultra-anal serious mode and want to put a stop to everything I find too silly here, but more often than not, I opt to let it go, because it's at least in the spirit of what the board's about.

So they're being Wayne Arnold.
Somehow I knew that even though Wayne was being a jerk, he still cared about me as his little brother, and one day we'd look back on things and laugh. And I thought about Winnie Cooper, and was hopeful for school tommorow

You know what I really hate ? What makes me wanna go on murderous rampage ? It' s how some people started to go all like "OMG you don' t hate *insert wrestler/group of persons/movie/band/etc* ! You' re really dumb to be RESPECTFUL to them !"
Like the time when a guy started a "pet peeves" thread and claimed he hated emos and those who don' t like emo-bashing. Then some people said they were sick of the emo bashing and the guy who started the thread said something like "lol people like that make me think they are hopeless as well." Or when me and omg that' s a dude... said we liked the movie adaptation of the DaVinci Code, another one said "to those who said they liked the DaVinci Code, did you actually read the book before the movie ?"
Dudes if you can' t accept that some people like or at least don' t hate things or people you don' t like then DON' T JOIN A FORUM !!
Seriously they act like it was wrong to respect people ! Well guess what, no everybody doesn' t hate Cena, no everybody doesn' t hate emos ( do emos really exist, anyway ? ), no everybody doesn' t hate gay people. Now if you can' t accept that we respect these people, go back to your cave with your disrespectful troglodyte friends and let human beings post in peace.
rant over.
