They really need a stage thats as big as the ship in the first Super Smash Bros, with no outside "hazards", and just flat...

About time they had a second Kong as a character.
I wonder if DK Jr. will make a cameo, perhaps as an assist trophy?

About time they had a second Kong as a character. I wonder if DK Jr. will make a cameo, perhaps as an assist trophy? If you want to go by technicalities and canon, DK Jr. is actually the current DK (with Cranky Kong being the Donkey Kong from the early arcade games)... From Wikipedia... As his name implies, Cranky is a loud-mouthed old ape who is perpetually bitter about many things and complains about them to anyone who gives him even the slightest acknowledgment. He is mostly angry about the state of modern video games, once going so far as to complain about how many bits and bytes are used up to simply animate his swinging beard. Every time he sees any such thing he seems to fondly recall his heyday in which he was an 8-bit character with only three frames of animation. Rare has stated that Cranky is actually the Donkey Kong that pestered Mario in the original 1981 game by Nintendo, and that the current DK is his son;[1] in DKC2, Cranky states that when he was young, he was always "whisking away maidens and throwing barrels". This may be a possible reference to the original 1981 game. In Mario Tennis, there is Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr, but it also should be noted that Baby Mario also appeared in Mario Tennis alongside the adult Mario. It should also be noted that Baby Donkey Kong has appeared in Yoshi's Island DS, and is intended to be a younger version of Cranky Kong. Further proving this is Mario Superstar Baseball, Donkey Kong is said to be named after an ancestor, whose only identification is that he did not wear a tie. Then again, with Baby Mario/Luigi appearing in the same games as Mario/Luigi it could definitely be a possibility...

I have decided to stop updating this thing every day. With school starting up and me having to be in class early, I have been getting beaten to the news by other people (which is fine, I am not b****ing about that). Not to mention, I have dialup and would have to get up 20 minutes early or so to check the update then punch in my thoughts here. I will try to keep the main post on the first page updated as much as possible though, and pop in often.
Though I cannot deny, tis good to see my baby over 3000 views and the top thread on the front page behind Ask a Mod.
...oh, and have this be my 600th post!

I knew that, but then like you I thought they keep having Baby Mario and Luigi in the same game as Mario/Luigi, so why the hell not? If he did appear, I'd think he climb/swing through vines and drop items on everybody that would do damage, just like in the DK Jr. game.

How could he climb/swing through vines that don't exist on any of the stages?
He'd make a pretty lame playable character, since he's just a small version of Donkey Kong. At least Diddy has a totally different style.

Just imagine it, vines pop up out of nowhere and DK Jr. bops two mechanical alligator things in the head and they fly down and bite whoever they come into contact with... I'd like that...

Hopefully Diddy Kong will be to DK like Young Link was to Link, as YL is much better than regular Link...so, I might have just found my new favorite character if YL doesn't make the cut...

I am so psyched for this game. It's awesome how much thought they're putting into deciding which characters are in the game.

His striking moves look totally different and he has his peanut gun thing from DK64, so he doesn't sound much like Donkey Kong at all. And of course he's probably fairly weak, way faster, and a much better jumper.

I hope they institute his cartwheel and that the peanut pop gun is easier to manuever than it was when you were flying. Now if they added K. Rool or Dixie, I'd be set for DK characters!

Ok, so how many characters were in the first two? Compared to this? Wow 12 in SSB 25 in SSBM (counting Zelda/Sheik as one) 18 so far in SSBB (counting ZSS/Samus as one) Though it is pretty much confirmed on the official site that characters from Animal Crossing, F-Zero, and Mother/EB will also be playable, bumping it to 21. I'm guessing it'll be more like 28 or 32 at the end, but that we won't be shown them all before release. They keep the hidden characters ...hidden.

This hype is really annoying me. Why would having Diddy Kong in the game excite me? Isn't it a given that he'd be in the game?

Considering he wasn't in the previous games, no, it's not a given.
And it isn't like they're like "OMG DIDDY IS IN AREN'T YOU AMAZED?!" It's one days update out of like 40ish updates so far.
