aah fair enough, to be honest, the Space Heroes stuff was kind of disappointing to me too, even with all the copious Starfire side-boobage.
best issue was 40, when Steel finally beat the bejeezus out of Lex Luthor. there was just something so satisfying to it.

On 52, outside the Black Adam, Booster, and Ralph stories, the writing all felt below grade, and the art was almost always substandard, and at times embarrassing. That book got seriously ugly at times.

I've been buying all the stuff leading up to the Infinite Crisis, from Identity Crisis onwards. INFINITE CRISIS ISN'T OUT ON PAPERBACK UNTIL NEXT MONTH AND THE HARDBACK'S OUT OF PRINT. WHAT THE HELL? I'm also buying lots of the Batman stuff, mostly the retcons of the earlier stuff like The Long Halloween, which I loved.

aah fair enough, to be honest, the Space Heroes stuff was kind of disappointing to me too, even with all the copious Starfire side-boobage. best issue was 40, when Steel finally beat the bejeezus out of Lex Luthor. there was just something so satisfying to it. Animal Man/Starfire/Adam Strange: Seriously underwritten at times, although I liked the stuff with the Green Lantern Corps (MOGO~!)... I think Lobo should only be included in non-verbal roles, I don't think anyone outside of the JLI team can write (or draw, really) him without me wanting to vomit. The Captain Comet narrated section was good stuff, though. Question/Montoya: Very good character writing, but the Crime Bible stuff seemed like a bit of a lame pretext for the whole story to hang on, and it all felt like it was missing Batman, which it was. Black Adam: Simply awesome stuff. Tremendous. Ten thumbs up for this, except for WWIII, which was very disappointing for me, and seemed to be the worst example of the "We're changing things right here!" school of thought. Steel: This was well done, and the moment that Lex deactivated the powers was really brilliantly built - however, it just seemed to end, and I don't see Steelworks lasting much better than any other teams building from this sort of event. Will Magnus: Kind of an addendum to the Black Adam stuff, and almost equally as good - really cute, smart writing, and a good read for continuity mavens. Booster: Didn't care much for this, and the final reveal was a bit of Deus Ex Machina to bring back the multiverse, didn't really work out IMHO, might as well have had Gunfire appear and vomit up the original multiverse. Ralph: A good overview of the post-IC Universe, and really put over how smart poor Mr Dibny really was. Faust and Neron at the end was either a lame reveal or an inspired choice, I can't really decide what... problem is, Faust is a classic villain, and there are plenty of uses for Neron, so I hope when DC bring them back they don't invalidate everything Ralph did there.

Saw some Goon fans out there...I just picked up "The Goon: Chinatown and the Mystery of Mr. Wicker", an original hardcover graphic novel yesterday. I had no idea this even existed until I saw it on the shelf.

And actually, your sidekick, Bob, Agent of Hydra, is the best sidekick in the biz right now. A much needed upgrade over Weasel and that metal armed doofus.

Hey listen, Cable... he's a bit of a stiff, but he's alright you know. So only I can call him a doofus alright? It's like a brother thing. But yes, Bob has been fun. I need a new guinea pig every now and then. Weas has been laying off buying potato chips for me to steal lately.

I'm currently into DC right now (Reading the Watchmen, anticipating The Dark Knight), though that may all change if/when I get the Marvel Zombies/Army of Darkness hardcover.

All I really read is Garth Ennis' Punisher. Best book out there IMO. I've also been reading a lot of classic Batman stories (Year One, Arkham Asylum etc.)
