I can understand not liking it, but I never can understand people saying they "hated it"... I hated it. There just wasn't anything in it that I enjoyed and I thought the lame attempts at humor just wasn't funny and unlike many I didn't think the CGI effects were that great.

I'm just going to say I disagree with it being the best movie of 2007, and leave it at that.

I will stick with the animated version from the 80's.

Well I just got done watching the DVD of it I had for christmas. I have to say it is the best movie of 2007 by FAR. Easily in my top 5 of all time. You need to watch more movies. That movie sucked hardcore.

Notice how people who defend Bay's TRANSFORMERS can't stand tall with their arguments beyond the "it's fun!" comments?
Unless you count a certain Crapper who tried, and I feel bad for him, but tried some ridiculous argument about how the movie represented keeping toys under the bed or something that made no sense.
For "popcorn," its hollow corn.
TRANSFORMERS (2007) - *1/2

But I guess I aint gonna convince the driver of the anti Michael Bay bandwagon of that.

It was a fun movie, not great, not bad by any stretch, but fun.

Lines from the movie that made me mark out --
Optimus Prime: A necessary sacrifice to bring peace to this planet. We cannot let the humans pay for our mistakes. It's been an honor serving with you all. Autobots, ROLL OUT!
Jazz: You want a piece of me, huh? Megatron: No, I want two!
Megatron: Humans don't deserve to live. Optimus Prime: They deserve to choose for themselves. Megatron: Then you will die WITH THEM! Join them in Extinction!
Megatron: You fail me yet again, Starscream.
Optimus Prime: It's you and me, Megatron. Megatron: No, it's just me, Prime. Optimus Prime: At the end of this day, one shall stand, one shall fall! Megatron: You still fight for the weak! That is why you lose!
Agent Simmons: I'm gonna count to five... Captain Lennox: I'm gonna count to three.
Optimus Prime: Taking the children was a bad idea.

Next time I think of a movie I enjoy, I'll be sure to write a full-length essay on why I am justified in thinking it's great.

The movie had some good and some bad.
The good centered around the first part, with "the boy and his robot" storyline that rocked.
But then they introduced the rest of the Autobots and Decepticons, ESPECIALLY the Decepticons WAYYY too late.
That's why I'm looking forward to a sequel.

Its not justification, but to quote RING OF HONOR....we have to "Man Up" in explaining balls to the wall, for there is a reason why one enjoys a movie, right? If your houses catches on fire, there is a reason, right? Faulty electrical wiring, insurance scamming, whatever. A house doesn't simply just catch on fire, and nothing more. Look, if you all liked TRANSFORMERS, fine....but I didn't because simply, I couldn't relate to the story. An emo kid whining and being a puss over a girl, inbetween giant robots fighting, sorry no credit. Humans never mattered in the TRANSFORMERS cartoons, and the attempt at the human story in the movie...why bother? It's like trying to craft humanism in a GODZILLA movie for god sakes. Not that attempting such a route is a bad thing, but when it sucks, we're stuck with the tab. Anyway, simple explanations why one likes this and that could be a few words or be a full-length review, it don't matter. Hell, I even tried to explain why I liked SAHARA, in spite of it having the usual nonsense I despise in such summer blockbuster action fare. Point is, I tried to draw up a logical, reasonable argument. Whatever one agrees with it or not, its their choice. But I explained myself.

Besides, would you believe me if I said that Bay wasn't the worst director around? Doesn't excuse his hack filmmaking, but he's given $100-200 million budgets, and I get NOTHING of quality for the $8 I spent on my ticket or whatever. I gave TRANSFORMERS a fair chance, but in a year when we had great action cinema, great action fun, TRANSFORMERS seems even lesser of quality than ever.

Well... how is "it's a fun movie" not enough to explain that you like something? I mean, what's the point of seeing a movie? To have fun, right? I don't know about others, but I don't go to movies to find the answers to life or solve my problems or anything else other than to enjoy myself. So, if I see a movie and I enjoy myself, that's enough for me to like it and to think it's a good movie since it did what it is supposed to do: entertain me. And the more entertained I am by a movie, the more I like the movie; the more I like a movie a movie, the better it seems to me. So I don't see why I would need more than "I like it; I thought it was a fun movie" to defend my stance on liking it. I just don't see why "I thought it was fun" isn't good enough an answer to defend liking a movie and thinking it was good. And I also don't see why liking this movie means I must not have seen a lot of other movies.

Had it not been for Optimus Prime, I would've hated Transformers. And if the best thing about a film is a giant, stupid-looking CG robot if the best thing about your film, you've really screwed up.
Seriously, the only way I'd ever buy this film is if it included Tom Servo, Mike Nelson and Crow in the lower right-hand corner.

I really, really enjoyed the movie. I was surprised with it as I thought it was going to be worse, but definitely not the best movie of 2007.

Well... how is "it's a fun movie" not enough to explain that you like something? I mean, what's the point of seeing a movie? To have fun, right? I don't know about others, but I don't go to movies to find the answers to life or solve my problems or anything else other than to enjoy myself. So, if I see a movie and I enjoy myself, that's enough for me to like it and to think it's a good movie since it did what it is supposed to do: entertain me. So I don't see why I would need more than "I like it; I thought it was a fun movie" to defend my stance on liking it. If I said I hate and despise you, is that enough? Again, if the movie entertained you, fine, whatever. Intelligent, cerebral pictures, like last year's CHILDREN OF MEN and THE FOUNTAIN, or dramas like MICHAEL CLAYTON and NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, or even pure-action cinema like THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM and SHOOT'EM UP and WAR, all entertain me in different ways. I was just simply interested as to why you liked it beyond the "it's fun" statement. Then again, from your I just don't see why "I thought it was fun" isn't good enough an answer to defend liking a movie and thinking it was good. And I also don't see why liking this movie means I must not have seen a lot of other movies. I guess its an alright explanation, but if you read my reviews for say WAR or even INDIANA JONES & THE TEMPLE OF DOOM, I write how I had good fun with both, in different ways. With WAR, it was I wrote "delicious fast-food action cinema" and basically called TEMPLE OF DOOM a boy's juvenile adventure film as well-made as such a picture can be (perhaps). But really, you seem to think I'm calling you stupid. Did I ever? Don't get so emotional over something as simple of a question from me like "why?"
