Time for another rousing round of 'what's in $lim's dvd'? Currently it's the classic tale of a boy earning respect from his peers at a new school by beating the crap outta them in a karate tournament. One of the quintessential movies of my youth. Remember kids, if you're gonna be Cobra Kai-

Must be "Take a Worm for a Walk" Week!!!
I just realized something: The original is one of my Top 5 movies ever, I can repeat it almost line for line... and I don't have it on DVD. Time to stop at CC on the way home from work tomorrow.

there's a rumour going around that they are going to remake this movie using will smith's son in the Daniel role. I don't like that idea. While I heard he was good in THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS, I think he's just too young for the part. But if that's the route they will go, don't do a complete remake, have whoever is being bullied not be named "Daniel" because that's who will train him (Daniel-san took over the dojo after Mr Miagi's passing. This will make it so we don't have another person playing Pat Morita's role and pay tribute to him at the same time)

Remember kids, if you're gonna be Cobra Kai- I always like the ideal of getting a wussy kid from NJ to do your chores around the house, clean your cars, and paint your friggin' backyard and you teach him the same thing he could've learned from an instructional Chuck Norris video. Difference? Chuck Norris would've shown up and beat the s*** out of Kreese and all of his fair haired little Nazis. RIP Pat Morita.

Nah, Kreese and the Cobra Kai played dirty.
They would have killed Chuck Norris one way or the other.
If not by combat, then surely by rigging his car to explode upon ignition or something.
They were nuts.

Wow... oddly enough, I just unwrapped the Special Edition DVD I got over at Wal-Mart the other week and popped it in last night. The bonus features are great to see how Morita almost wasn't cast as Miyagi, how everyone thought Macchio was obnoxious and finally how much "Johnny" and "Kreese"'s portrayers were so into their roles to the point they talked about how they were right. The only thing missing from those features were Elisabeth Shue. Oh, and the Morita stuff was sad but great, especially his last line at the end of second part of "The Way of the Karate Kid".

This series doesn't get good until Part 3, when we're introduced to billionaire villain Terry Silver and Karate's Bad Boy, Mike Barnes...

WWE should so do a Cobra Kai stable. Would've gotten over way more than the Spirit Squad.

"We do not train to be merciful here. Mercy is for the weak. Here, in the streets, in competition: A man confronts you, he is the enemy. An enemy deserves no mercy." WWE should so do a Cobra Kai stable. Would've gotten over way more than the Spirit Squad. I could only hope for the return of Ernest Miller in some form if they did that.
