I'm partial to Ice Cube...he has the formula down. Produce an amazing album, collaborating with the top rappers at the time, ride the wave of success, chill for a few years, repeat.
"Go To Church" is probably the best modern rap of all time.
As far as hip-hop goes, MF Doom and Jurassic 5 have some nice beats, and I almost always dig what they are saying.
