Superbad=2nd worst movie ever, trailing only Donnie Darko.
Oh, and the most overrated, bar none. Even more than Napolean Dynamite.
Oh, and Micheal Cera...just stop...he came from Arrested Development (a show that could not have been cancelled quick enough...not even remotely funny) and into another equally horrible wad of trash. If this kid IS the future of Hollywood, then Hollywood has some dark days ahead of it.
Back to the movie...it was like someone took a camera and followed the lazy teenage bandwagoning sacks of crap I work with.
Short and sweet, for me it was the exact opposite of what drthv8r thought of it. I thought it was nothing but hype and bs.

Did it kill your mother? Because that is a lot of hate.

I doubt he hates it THAT much And if he does, I mean, at least he watched it and then formed an opinion. No offense to McJ or wonka or anything but I'll never get the " I'll make my mind up about something without watching it and that's the end of it" mentality* *Except for stuff like Epic Movie. Then it's totally cool.

The movie's quality is kinda implied in the title, in my opinion.

And I was thinking, if that and Donny Darko are his two least favorite movies of all time, there is a lot cinema he has yet to watch. While I didn't really like DD, I wouldn't even put it in my bottom hundred.

I liked Donnie Darko. I don't think it's "great" per se but it made me think more than the majority of films. But that's one for another thread.
And am I the only who sees a resemblance between Jonah Hill and Chris Penn? It's eerie, to me anyway.

On my Top Ten list of the year, I put it at number 7.
I think Superbad could be seen from two angles. It can be seen from the whole "Freaks and Geeks" angle where awkwardness is subtle and the movie seems more improvised, or it can be seen as the whole "Porky's" comedy, where everything is about tits and dicks. But it meets more in the middle, and that's why this movie is probably the best high school comedy of all time. I felt that the comedy was perfect, the only time I felt it was going overboard was with the whole blood on the pants thing, but it moved the movie forward by giving Seth a reason to leave the party quickly.
But I do agree with the whole "McLovin" bullshit. People who only see the movie for McLovin will be greatly disappointed, because there are many moments during the movie that are smart and innovative that don't even have Fogell in it. And the cops are half and half, you have Rogen in full conversational, laid back comedy and Bill Hader, who comes off either really great or incredibly annoying.
When I reviewed the film for my college newspaper I gave it a 4.5/5, calling it the best comedy of the year with Knocked Up, and I'll stick to it after watching it again.
And I've started using "Don't be like Stephen Glandsberg" around in public, and it's nice to see people get it.

The McLovin part was funny at first, but they overdid it IMO. Most of the dialogue was hilarious though. "You still haven't told him we're rooming together?" "Fogell...shut the f*** up. And take off that vest, you look like Aladdin" "I'm so wet right now..." "Uh...yeah, they said that would happen in Health class" "You know how many kinds of foods are shaped like dicks? The best kinds!"
