All signs point to "Yes".
(But only if we're talking regular season here)

Only in the regular season. They will then lose to either the Colts or the Chargers in the championship game and will forever be known as just another team.

Peyton Manning better not stop the Pats after raping my Bears last Bowl!
Since I am a New Englander (MA represent!), I think I'm forced by law to support the Pats, so I say yes.

I really don't even see why it's that big of a deal...ESPN is acting like it's more important than the Super Bowl...

They're giving the Pats the USC treatment, or as I like to call the "ESPN Curse," where you lose right after being called the best team ever.

For the first time the Pats are getting Media attention, Man band wagon fans annoy me.

The thought of Payton Manning stopping the Pats makes me lol. 1) It's P eyton. 2) He's a QB, thus he plays offense, thus he wont be the one stopping the pats, that would be our young talented defense led by Bob "Hitman" Sanders. 3) He (they) stopped the Pats last year. No reason they can't do it again.

Regular Season - Probably Entire Season and Super Bowl - Still can't see it happening. They've cherry picked a weak AFC East, caught the strong teams on their schedule at the right time, and proven they are just mortals in a number of games. The linebacking group is an achilles heal and you can spread out the defense and run on it, which teams like Indy and Jacksonville can do. The offense is still stellar, but you can account for their running game and Moss is made ineffective if you bump him at the line and play him physical. Welker will continue to be a thorn in your side, but he's currently a product of having all the attention go to the other receivers on the team. There are other guys who can and have stepped up and Brady's a very good QB, but he doesn't like to get touched, either. They have weaknesses that can be exploited and they aren't really that further ahead in terms of talent than other teams. The X Factor is Belichick and his schemes, which have continually lifted this team over the past few years. He can be out-coached, though, especially when a few of his units on the field are held together with duct tape and look ready to fall apart. Raiding the AARP House for linebackers may come back to haunt them, but who really knows. That said, it's nice to know a lot of people suddenly realize where Foxboro is on the map and realized a football team played in the area, instead of just an NBA and MLB team....

There are other guys who can and have stepped up and Brady's a very good QB, but he doesn't like to get touched, either. I still don't get the sudden Jacksonville craze. They stack up well against the Patriots, as they do the things the Patriots have struggled against (an effective running game and rushing the quarterback). But who have they beaten that's worthwhile? Looking at their schedule, their only wins against "good teams" are a 7-point win at Pittsburgh, a 7-point win vs. the Chargers, a 15-point win at Tennessee and a 1-point win at Tampa Bay. They haven't proven that they can win convincingly in sloppy weather (they nearly gagged one away at Pittsburgh) and despite David Garrard's fantastic numbers, has he proven that he can step up when his team needs him? Or will he fold and have to rely on Taylor and MoJo? If the Jaguars took a trip to the Razor, they'd probably make a decent game of it. But the Patriots would win the game, because Belichick would force Garrard to beat them through the air, something he hasn't proven that he can do. As for the Colts, they are a formidable opponent, but the Patriots managed to beat them and the refs in their dome, when both teams were unbeaten. And you can't discount Manning's illustrious record in Foxboro in the playoffs. And the loss of Dwight Freeney will be the x-factor in a rematch, because now Brady knows that he won't have to worry about Freeney overpowering Matt Light and coming hard on his blindside. He can take his time, step up in the pocket, and find the open man, where he is most lethal...when he has time to scan the field. The Pats aren't unstoppable, but I just don't see a team beating them. That said, if they do lose, I won't be stunned (more angry than anything). I'll also have to turn off ESPN for a week, as for the entire week after a potential loss, it will be "A SportsCenter Special. In Memoriam: The 2007 New England Patriots".
