Queens of the Stone Age...not the most underrated band ever, but I always thought they should have been bigger.

I would say they're underrated. You hardly ever here there stuff on the radio or basically get as much exposure as they should. Yeah, they are hugely praised yet there music is not played on the radio. maybe because they have songs about Lobotomies and Drugs. Lobotomies and drugs sounds like the perfect combination for radio to me. ;D

Weezer is probably overrated, especially among college students. The Beach Boys? Pretty much everyone on Earth agrees that "Pet Sounds" is the second or third most influential rock album ever. New Found Glory? They basically suck. I'm going to go with the Arctic Monkeys. Wow, that was pretty much uncalled for in just about every way. And I don't see what "sucking", whether they do or not being entirely subjective, has to do with anything at all. You're right, my bad. But they are about a half step removed from being Good Charlotte. That's all I meant. And I don't see anyone nominating them.

They're still pretty big, though not as much as they used to be...but underrated, no.

This band... I'm willing to bet none of you have ever heard of them. I have. Actually, I own some of their stuff. My husband has a t-shirt he got ages ago when he saw them in concert. He gets asked "Who is that?" all the time when he wears it.

Body Count Yes, and I do agree that Coheed and Cambria definitely remind me of a Rush for the late 2000s. I really hate that guys voice... I hated Rush forever because of the singing, but the musicianship is so amazing and the songs are so good that I got over it... Coheed kills me... but everyone I talk to who likes them says that a huge part of the reason is the guys voice

Danzig (Their first album is great, but they seem to get better every year) Primus Eyes Adrift The Decemberists The Misfits (Sure, everyone has the skull logo on some kind of attire. But who seriously knows the greatness that is "Teenagers From Mars" or "Devilock"?)
Would you count The Dirty Mac as an underrated band? Even if they did perform for one night, it was a really great rock moment that hardly anyone knows about

Frank Zappa. Zappa released over 70 albums in a 30 year time span, pionered in the early video market with movies like "200 Motels", "Baby Snakes" and "The Dub Room Special", Wrote recorded and owned all of his own music and his first album "Freak Out!" inspired Paul McCartney to make "Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band".
And yet not many people know about him.

Suicidal Tendencies.
Hardcore Punk. Thrash. Funk/Rap Metal.
Yeah, they did most of that before anyone else, but for some reason nobody cares.

Also, this might sound wierd because they're popular, but The Who.
People think 60s rock and it's hippies, Greatfull Dead (BLECCHH!), Hendrix (awesome), Beatles, Stones.... but really, aside from Hendrix, I'd take The Who over any of those bands.
Hell, even the Doors get more attention just because of their drunk lead singer.

Stabbing Westward, they got wrote off as a watered down NIN early in their career and it still makes me weep to this day.

How about the Blue Oyster Cult? Them and the previously mentioned Thin Lizzy are two of my favorite 70s bands that nobody else likes haha.
What about Bad Religion? Think about it. Everyone gives their little "great classic punk bands" speech on TV and it's the same crap "Pistols! Ramones!" (You might get a mention of Black Flag or Minor Threat in there if you're REALLY lucky. Usually they just make it sound like Iggy Pop influenced the Sex Pistols and the Ramones to start punk, and the whole thing just died around 1980... pffft!)
But I guarantee you that Bad Religion influenced more punk bands than most of those 70s punk bands that nobody really listens to anymore. Those were actually just the bands that jumped on the punk "trend" at the time.
The bands that came along in the early 80s were the ones that did it just because they liked it because it sure as hell wasn't "cool" at that point, and Bad Religion had to have had the longest lasting influence of those bands.
