My list is short
CM Punk Big Show and maybe Turkey and Burke

Test and Holly, actually. They'd be reviled. Test's best match ever was that "extreme rulz" match with RVD, and Holly I think would enjoy trying to win over the ECW crowd with stiff shots.

Hardcore Holly is the only new ECW guy besides CM Punk who would have made it in the real ECW. Hardcore Holly is such a WWE loyalist though.

Rookies: - Lashley (Heyman reportedly liked him so it wouldn't be a surprise)
- Punk (He always seems like he'd be the ECW Champ right now if they hadn't gone broke)
- Turkay (Easily the new Taz/Shootfighter type that Heyman loves)
- Burke (It would have been a stop before the 'E)
- Striker (He has Stevie Richards like comedy timing and the teacher gimmick could work well)
Established: - Big Show (He could make a lot of money with him. Look at how they worked together in '02 or '03 for an example)
- Test (Big, athletic and can hang well in the ring.)

Holly could not have made it in the original ECW. He is just too bland. And honestly, too old. ECW was mainly younger, sharper guys. Sure, they had some veterans like Funk, but those guys got over on their legacy, if nothing else. Holly has no legacy, and no charisma.
CM Punk is a given. Out of all the new roster, he is the one I could most easily have seen fitting right in in the old ECW. Test has actually surprised me. If he had been in the original ECW, he would have played a role like that of a heel Mike Awesome. Same goes for Knox, despite how underused he is. Kevin Thorn probably could have gotten over in the original ECW. But my guess is his gimmick would have been rather different; he probably would have busted all his opponents open to symbolize how much he loves blood, u know, being a vampire and all. And honestly, Trinity would have fit right in. Its a shame she is so rarely on television. She would have been right in there, taking bumps with the boys.

If Holly had an accident with a table like he did in new ECW, he'd be legendary overnight.

Striker would be the new Tommy Dreamer, he'd come in with his argyle like Tommy & his suspenders & the fans would hate him but he'd prove he's hardcore & the fans would eventually take him in. Not really.

I actually think that Thorn would have been over in ECW, with his current gimmick, or even the Mordecai one, slightly modified for ECW's budget.
Mordecai vs. Sandman? MONEY.
Mordecai vs. Raven? MONEY.
Thorn w/ Sinister Minister? MONEY.
I fail to see how Thorn WOULDN'T fit the original ECW.
And let me just say that Stacy Keibler would have fit as well.

Thorn would fit in. After all, ECW did have The Vampire Warrior (Gangrel) at one point.
Matt Striker would NOT get over with his teacher gimmick, though. Maybe if he impersonated other wrestlers like Stevie did.

As much as I dislike the guy, I think Test could have made something of himself in ECW. Hell, Droz was looking pretty awesome under Heyman's control, so I imagine Test coulda been a big deal. The Bashams as well.

Hardcore Holly working very stiff would have gone over well I think, given a New Jack style gimmick.

If Holly or Test developed more charisma, they could've possibly made it in old ECW, but the way they are in actuality, I couldn't see them working in ECW. Punk certainly would have worked in old ECW. BurKay could both have made it in old ECW, Terkay in the Taz role, Burke his corner man, or as a new version of The Eliminators. Kevin Thorn probably could too, only he'd have to be less 'real vampire' and more 'metaphoric/sadistic vampire'. Big Show definitely could, based on his WWECW run. Lashley possibly if he'd been given a mouthpiece and allowed to use every move in his repertoire rather than being Goldberg Syndrome 'd.
For guys in WWE but not WWECW, I'd say:
Kennedy- his gimmick would've fit perfectly with The Network. Shelton- He could've been used like Heyman planned on using Angle before he left. Burchill- Could've been the perfect 'all rounder monster heel'. Like a British Brock Lesnar, only more acrobatic, and more charismatic. Finlay- Stiff, legitimately tough, hardcore veteran. Regal- See Finlay. They could've been brought in together as an old-school team, and it could've been them who feuded with Corino instead of Dusty Rhodes. Gregory Helms- perfect fit for the lightweight/acrobatic mold. The Hardyz- They have the extreme/OTT gimmick that ECW was all about. Perfect for gimmick matches in ECW. And possibly MNM- Mercury was in the real ECW, but as a team they could work well- the Hollywood celebrities who've come to clean up and glitz-up ECW.They could've gotten mega over as anti-ECW heels, or would'e worked excellent as part of The Network.
All those guys have either an edgy/shoot wrestler/ legit tough aura to them, or represent the antithesis of ECW's mindset yet have the ability to get over. Also they represent the antithesis of ECW in their gimmick and persona as opposed to their wrestling ability and charisma, which is why I could see Kennedy/MNM, who represent the glitzy side of wrestling, getting over as opposed to Test/Knox, who simply represent the sucky worker side of wrestling.

Heyman was so good at excentuating the positives and hiding the negatives in wrestlers that, to be honest, most guys would be at least bearable in the old ECW.
Except hardcore holly.

Pretty much anyone could have made it in the old ECW. Just look at 911.
