I'm sorry....I know there are a lot of TNA fans on this forum, but lets be realistic. Samoa Joe is no where near as popular as Cena. Most people wont even know who Samoa Joe is, and Cena is appearing in movies, comercials, TV shows ect. ect.
Not to mention his accomplishments in the WWE.
He may not be the best wrestler, and a lot of wrestling fans cant stand him, but over all he is the most popular wrestler competing today. Hes still the top fan favorite and the wrestler every little kid wants to be.

Well I don´t know about Joe, but Cena have a really bad reputation outside america(Just ask any Brazilian wrestling fan and he will rant on how "John Cena embodies what´s wrong with america:Rappers trying to be cool."

Actually, I think Samoa Joe is a more popular wrestler overall than John Cena. And real wrestling fans (those who know more about wrestling than just WWE) are huge fans of Samoa Joe. I was one of those people who thought for a long time Samoa Joe was overrated (because I never saw him wrestle except for the first few squash matches), then I saw his match with AJ Styles at Sacrifice and I was hooked.

Samoa Joe at his absolute worst>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Cena at his absolute best.
there, I said it. But I'm not even sure I should compare Cena to Joe. It's not really fair to Joe, an excellent wrestler being compared to a retarded white rapper gorilla who can't cut a promo without sex jokes or poop jokes.

I was talking about marks. They usally love Kurt Angle tought(Well, before he jumped ship anyway.) and frankly, can you blame them? Cena is overpushed and in a MMA contry is double the stupidity of this "Overcoming the Odds" crap.

I wanna bring up two points/questions:
1. Aren't the PWI Awards chosen by votes from readers? I believe they are, in which case, Samoa Joe is indisputably the most popular wrestler amongst PWI readers.
2. What does this have to do with WWE Current?
EDIT: Nevermind the 2nd one, the thread has obviously been moved.

I used to like John Cena, but his act got old and I started hating it. Espescially when he was getting overshadowed in his feud with Christian, which for some reason they ended.

1. Aren't the PWI Awards chosen by votes from readers? Yes they are. PWI didn't choose him as the most popular, their fans did. Cena won the award last year, and maybe even the year before. This Samoa Joe thing is not unusual for the awards. Even back in the 80's NWA guys would win Most Popular Wrestler of the Year Award when they were no where near as popular as Hulk Hogan actually was. But PWI is read by one segment of the wrestling audience. Most of the 10 year old Cena fans aren't reading PWI, they're reading WWE Magazine.

Samoa Joe may rank high as a wrestler, but I can't see him being terribly popular with an audience as herd-like as PWI's *supposed* readers. Joe is a wrestler, and not much else - he doesn't have much in the way of personality, and from what I've seen, he's not keen with promos.
I may hate Cena as a wreslter, but if PWI readrers truly are as naive and blind as editors like Apter would have us believe, I can't see how they would pick Samoa Joe - a pure wrestler - over someone as overpushed in wrestling and film as John Cena.
What's next? A retrospective issue telling us that Dean Malenko was 'more popular' than The Rock?

Ahh, you got to be a complete mark to think the PWI Awards are voted on by the fans.
PWI is kayfabe and irrelevent in 2007.

Random Thought but imagine the outburst from the net if Joe ever came to the E and took on Cena right away with Cena making Joe tap out quick to the STFU. I think the net would explode lol

Maybe its my imagination but, Cena was booed out of quite a few buildings toward the beginning of the year and, while I think he was supposed to be a heel, the Impact Zone loved Joe more than anyone else in TNA. Basically, Joe had more love shown him on TV by the fans than Cena did.

Are we going with a Wrestler vs. Sports-entertainer thing again? Grr Joe is in no way more popular than John Cena, John Cena right now is the face of WWE, hell I'd call him as popular as Bret Hart was. Known world wide. Joe is known by wrestling fans but eh, i still think PWI has it out for WWE. They've always supported NWA/WCW and ECW back in the days
