Punk and Joe is the funniest, Foley's is very funny/informative, and Lance's is my overall favorite.

Ok, in a bit of a twist, what would be considered the worst you've seen?

Ok, in a bit of a twist, what would be considered the worst you've seen? Midnight Express. Was expecting so much more, but it's so worthless. They mentioned they didn't want to give too much away due to a book deal, and well, they didn't.

Of the ones I've seen, I can't say there was a bad one, but the most disappointing for me was Punk and Cabana. It was a great insight in to their earliest days in the business, but I was expecting it to be a full on laugh fest. Not even close.
But for insight on their careers, it's an excellent pick up.

Punk and Cabana is more of a subtle humor, and a lot of it is humor over stuff that you have to know before hand to find funny. It's a great insight though. I loved Foley's though.

The only ones that I think weren't worth the money were the CM Punk & Joe ones. These guys are still working towards the prime of their careers. LOTS of years left in 'em and to do a shoot just because they were over on one indy fed (doing the shoot) reeks of cashing in. Sure enough, the Punk & Joe shoots were pretty much about training and the first show since they hadn't broken into the big leagues. Their stories were more like "meh" than anything memorable - because they have only begun to reach that point in their lives.
Besides, hearing Gabe Sapolsky talk to them is annoying in and of itself.
I'll order their up-to-date shoots in about 10 years. They'll have a LOT of interesting stuff to say.
Foley's SHOOT was solid, but with his "Hardcore Diaries" coming out - I wonder if it will be obsolete?
Lance Storm's was exhaustive and really solid. So much packed into its barely 3 hour running time and there was much more personality on display here than WWE ever allowed the guy during his time at their crap factory.
Jim Cornette - it's hard not sit back and take in everything he has to say about the business. Hell, he could do monthly shoots just on the state of the business for each month during the year - and they'd be so info-packed and entertaining as his career-specific shoots.
Bill Watts - RF video did it better. He said all he really hd to say on theri shoOT (conducted by Sapolsky back in the day) that the only intrinsic value in the shoOTs are Cornette's participation.
I also loved Percy Pringle's shoots. I hate the f'n Undertaker deadman crap and hated Paul Bearer (typical WWF garbage of the early nineties), but I always respected Wiliam Moody the performer. William Moody - the man, is like 900 x's more engaging and personable and entertaining than his PPII character (and that IS saying something, since Percy is/was/will remain one of the all time greats in pro-wrestling Manager-dom), and his candid, good-spirited takes on the WWF at its worst (again - early 90s) made me sit down and revist some of the matches and events that I once though I'd never bother to go back and suject myself to for a repeat. That's no small feat. I imagine a lot of the under-30 crowd here might find him long winded or boring and have no clue about some of his early career references, but I am sure that I'd pay for more shoots from PPIII if ROH ever produced them.
2 COLD SCORPIO's shoot isn't anything groundbreaking but if you're a fan of the performer you'll really apprecaite it.
Francine's was nothing exceptional.
Brad Armstrong's shoot was really, really good, but its appeal might be for the hardcore WCW, 80s and 90s era Japan fans, and old South wrasslin' fans. Interesting stuff if that's your cup of tea.
Skandor Akbar's Straight Shottin' disc was fascinating, but he's not in character and much more low key than what fans might remember him for. As such, casual fans might become bored with it. I wasn't, though, and I loved hearing him talk about Mid-South, WCCW and USWA.
Kamala's Straight Shootin' interview was a diamond in the rough. I always enjoyed his schtick, but I never thought much of wanting to watch a shoot interview with the guy. I received the VHS of this as a gift and I have to say - I found his shoot both touching and interesting. His stories about race relations within wrestling in the south in the early sixties and seventies was eye-opening (and no, he's not doing it n a dogmatic fashion - that's not the Sugar Bear Harris fashion, kids) and his observations about working overseas (England first, then Japan) were also enlightening. Hearing him discuss the joys of working for Vince Sr., and how Vince Jr. was a piece-of-s@#t (my words, based on his observations - not Kamala's words - he actually likes Vince Jr. but does go into detail on how Vince basically paid him nothing), how Crockett Promotions treated him worse, and how WCCW and Memphis helped him were really engrossing sections of the shoot. This is a sleeper shoot, in that it's a great visit with Kamala and a great perspective on the business, but one you'd probably pass by otherwise.
As for Raven & Sandman - I'll take their RF stuff over ROH - simply because ROH is just retreading things they did with RF first.
Oh - the Jushin Liger shoot is a must-have for any fan of Japanese wrestling. Amazingly informative and a rare treat for gaijin fans.

This thread inspired me to finally lay down the money for the Mick Foley DVD. Too bad I was too late for the 25% off sale...damn sale deadlines.

I think my favorite is the one from Jim Mitchell. He wasn't involved in as many big angles or memorable moments as some of the other guys, but he has some great stories about life on the road and is very articulate in his thoughts about other guys and the negatives to wrestling. And his story about getting his rings lost in a woman's...well, you just gotta get it

Does anyone have clips of Punk and Colt much like Voicebox did for Punk and Joe? I liked Punk/Joe better than Punk/Colt, they weren't as on with that shoot,IMO. My favorites were from what I've seen so far: SS w/Punk and Joe SS w/Kamala SS w/Cornette and Heenan 1,2,3 SS w/Pringle Vol.1 Ones to not watch: SS w/Mr.Fuji (can barely understand him) SS w/Butch Reed (same thing) SS w/Douglas and Funk-found it boring And on the Punk/Joe shoot, Gabe doesn't do the interview as I recall because Joe/Punk were making fun of him and his temper tantrums down in FIP.

Haha, and Gabe calls at one point but they aren't told until about 15 minutes later. Which led to one of my favorite parts of the shoot, Punk's sarcastic HHH impression. I wish my Windows Movie Maker wasn't messing up, I'd put that part on youtube.
