MVP. Dude just carries himself like a main event star already. IDK what it is but he just has this charisma about him that ya don't see in that many of the WWE's current crop.

I went with CM Punk, but MVP seems like a shoe-in and could be U.S Champ before the summertime, and maybe in that main event scene. Kennedy also, if Batista still isn't hogging the spotlight on SD, not that I'm a fan of Kennedy or anything.
Carlito is hopeless, same thing for Masters.
RVD already had his chance in the sun and he blew it away, so no more main events for him.
Nitro, possibly, but I can't see him main eventing one on one with Cena at a PPV. Couldn't take that seriously.

Where are Kennedy and Orton? I think those guys are both more likely candidates than anyone on the list.
Of those on the list, I'd say it's between Punk and Nitro.

I've only watched one episode of Raw or SmackDown since leaving for Japan, but out of those guys I'd say MVP. He seems better at working the crowd than a lot of the others on that list. (Kennedy not included)

Johnny Nitro as he is in the position Shawn Michaels was back in 93-95. The guy can put on some great performances, good charisma, and defintely has the minimum size requirement to make it to the main event. He has the most potential.

I've been criticised on nuerous boards for calling Nitro the next Shawn Michaels but every time I se this guy perform I',m more and more convinced he'll be the new showstopper.

No Kennedy!?
I know he just got a title shot against Batista, but that might have been a one-night-only type of deal for now as it looks like 'Taker is feuding with Batista now. I think Kennedy is a definite "regular" main eventer though once the older guys like Batista, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, and Triple HHH retire within the next couple of years.

UMAGA.
Really, has there been another guy as big as him that can move like he does?
Really if we're going for wrestling alone, I'd love to see Umaga get one of those unbeatable monster heel runs.

Nitro, easily.
WWE have faith in him, he has shown signs of improvement, but he still needs time to work on the promo/charisma dept.
But if WWE don't drop the ball with him, he'll be a big player sooner than later.
Probably MVP will have a chance, but they'd keep his original gimmick.
CM Punk maybe, but the chances of a failure are higher (i.e. silly booking)

Carlito has the tools to be in the main event, he's just gotta dig the dog and Fifi.

Carlito could be a great main eventer....there is a few things he would have to do though...
a. Become heel again b. Break the glass ceiling c. Don't get into deep crap that would keep one stuck in midcard hell (say like RVD, Masters, and Orton)
Note: Other than him MVP, Kennedy, and CM Punk could be great long-term main eventers...they just gotta reach it or get out of midcard hell.
