I've thought about this for awhile and it just makes me laugh. How a heel in the kayfabe era could throw fireballs, break legs, use cheating tactics, hate America, hate the human race, etc. But when he turns against another heel or says he's sorry, the fans are like, "WOOOO!!! WE LOVE YOU!!" Even as a little kid I thought, "Did I miss something?" And even better when he keeps turning every few months and the fans go right along.

Wrestlings all about forgetting. Yeah sure Lesnar might have pushed a cripple down a stairway, but then he beat up some other guy, so we love him

It's just one of those things that you're not supposed to think about. If he's a bad guy you boo and if he's a good guy you cheer. Always been that way it seems.
That being said I totally agree with you, and it does bug me really bad in some instances. Orton was a great example of this. He got his ass kicked by HHH so he started trying to get revenge.
HE'S GOOD NOW!!!
What the hell did he do to make up for the months beforehand of being an a-hole?

I despised that too. Even to this day I think it's dumb. Like in 2000, Triple H spent month after month beating up Chris Jericho (oh, wait; according to his fans Triple H DOESN'T bury young talented wrestlers, I must be mistaken), but when Trips turns face he's supposed to team with Jericho & they're all pally? And why would Mick Foley suddenly have a liking for the man who "ended his career"? Why is HBK best mates with the man who tried to cripple him 4 years ago?
And the fans swallow it every time! Do they have short memories or what?

The only time I can think of when that didn't happen is in ROH when GenNext turned on Alex Shelley, and afterwards he had to fight his own battles, and the members of the lockerroom didn't forgive him.

When I first started getting into wrestling I had a friend that was markier than Marky Mark McMarkmarkmark. When he got me started watching wrestling his favorite wrestler was Ric Flair. Two weeks later I got him a Ric Flair figurine for his birthday and he shouted at me that Ric Flair was a coward and a cheater, right at his birthday party. It was hilarious.

I'll add to the ROH ones. It was so weird to see Joe and Homicide teaming up, acting cool with each other, and doing joint promos in some of the 2006 shows. I get the "mutual respect" thing, but dude was trying to kill Joe for his title barely over a year and 1/2 ago. If Colt Cabana and Homicide ever become on camera buddies....

It's so strange that fans forgave Hulk Hogan as if nothing happened.
Hogan turns heel at Bash at the beach in 1996 and told the fans to "stick it" while garbage was thrown at him.
In the late summer of 1999, Hogan turns back into a babyface and never told the fans he was sorry for what he did 3 years earlier.

Kane is the best and most confusing example.
He has done so many terrible things, but he only has to chokeslam a heel and he's a face. It's also the other way around, he easily turns heel by chokeslaming a face.

Wrestlings all about forgetting. Yeah sure Lesnar might have pushed a cripple down a stairway, but then he beat up some other guy, so we love him They were just empathizing. We've all pushed a cripple down a stairway, sometimes multiple times without provocation in the senior ward at the local hospital. We've been there and come back from it and Lesnar deserved our forgiveness.

Ohhh hes my favorite turner, I especially liked when they had the 'Glen Jackobs in the role of Matt Hardy' storyline for a little wile. JR who Kane has done terrible things to him personally feeling sorry for for the poor guy because the woman he raped and forced to marry him turned on him. LMAO!

I think it's just one of those unwritten rules of wrestling. For example, a steel chair hurts way less in a hardcore match than in a regular bout. It's just one of those moments in which we are supposed to suspend our sense of reality.

Triple H is probably the biggest example of this. He damn near kills JR and Flair when he's a heel, by beating them with sledgehammers and leaving them a bloody mess, but as soon as he turns face, we're supposed to forget all the evil things he's done, and JR and Flair become his biggest cheerleaders. Kane is another one. He commits a crime that by all means and purposes should be considered ATTEMPTED MURDER by pouring gasoline on JR and lighting him on fire, but the moment he makes a face turn, JR can't praise him enough. I guess you forgot JR that this guy TRIED TO KILL YOU, YET YOU STILL CHEER FOR HIM. WTF?

There is logical reasoning for it.
Basically if a person is so hated for such a long time, and they finally see the light and become an actual decent person, they're loved.

ROFL. ;D I always love JR and his wacky way of remembering things. Cena comes in as a heel and shows utter disdane for everyone and everything, later he turns face and JR says that he's always had a respect for the business.
