On Saturday afternoon, TNAwrestling.com received the below email from Mr. Backlund concerning a video that was posted on YouTube of a fan following him around Universal Studios during TNA’s television tapings. Mr. Backlund asked us to post his following response to the video…
MR. BACKLUND RESPONDS TO YOUTUBE VIDEO
It has come to my attention that a patron of Universal Studios in Orlando recently filmed me as I ventured throughout the various attractions inside the theme park.
Normally, I would articulate my abhorrence for intruding on the privacy of others. However, under the articles of the United States Constitution and the laws that govern this land, I was in a public area and said filmmaker was only documenting the events of which he saw! In other words, the plebian was well within his rights as an American citizen to capture my image on film for future generations, or even the internet, which is the vehicle he chose to publicize his findings!
However, what I do need to explain to the masses on the information superhighway concerning said video is the following:
1. The term “wandering” does not denote the correct explanation for my extensive travels that day! The proper terminology would be “exercise”, which nearly 80% of you plebians are lacking in vast quantities in the modern experience! In my opinion, the Universal Studios theme park provided an extremely adequate means of successfully completing my exercise regimen that given day!
2. Regarding my refusal to provide an autograph when requested to do so, it has been my longstanding belief that these types of encounters are an ideal platform to try to impress upon the masses the importance of a proper education! Before I offer my autograph, I simply require they recite the names of the Presidents of this great nation. If they are unable to do so, my hope is that it will provide them with an initiative to refocus their goals as an American citizen! It is quite easy to become immersed in the trappings of entertainment in our society, but it is another experience entirely to understand and appreciate the heritage of which the United States is built upon – and as a citizen it is vitally important for future generations!
3. It is not “garbage” that I was picking up! The applicable term is “refuse”. Imagine how much cleaner our cities and streets would be if every one of us allotted a few minutes on a daily basis to curtail such behavior!
In closing, to the filmmakers who publicized said video – and this goes to every one of you out there on the internet that are digesting this information in a digital format - I suggest for your future well-being and education that you spend less time online and more time at the library!
