This thread has probably been done ad nauseum before, but a thread in the WrestleCrap section got me to thinking about it again. Can Jarrett seriously not think of a better finisher? OK, so I know he hasn't been on TV for a while (and if he's taking care of his cancer-striken wife, I give him unparalled kudos for that) but the last finishing move I remember him using was this asinine, bastardized version of the Russian leg sweep. If I recall correctly, some people came to his defense by saying it was a legit judo (or other martial art - I'm not 100% sure) move, but still ... if you think the Canadian Destroyer is "exposing" the business, you can't seriously tell me The Stroke doesn't. I'm a clumsy mofo, and I fall on my face all the time. It's basically the same thing. So anyway, can't he go back to the figure-four like he was using in WCW? That at least seems like it could legit make a guy submit, plus it can add lots of psychology as he wears down the knee, etc. What body part does he wear down to make The Stroke more effective? The face? Don't even try to tell me it's supposed to be a "knockout" move, because like I said, I fall on my face all the time, and it's never once knocked me out; I'm pretty sure a linoleum floor is harder than a wrestling ring, too.

I actually like the Stroke when he puts some effort into it. With a little force, it looks like a good move. All it has to is keep someone down for a three count. Its no worse than the Rock Bottom or STO.

All he has to do IMO is do a full-nelson facebuster. It looks a hell of a lot better.
"The Stroke" is weak as a new-born kitten sans demonic power.

The Stroke can be even worse when the receiver oversells it. Jay Lethal, for example, leaps about two feet in the air before landing on the mat.

But ... couldn't he just use a bulldog?
I like the full-nelson facebuster idea, too, by the way. Either one seems to me to be more devestating than the Stroke.

I think it's a terrible finisher. The worst part is how his opponents take the move, as they clearly put their arms up in front of their face before they hit the ground. It doesn't even remotely look devestating. He should start using a brainbuster or something. I miss brainbuster finishers.

Hopefully he changes his finisher when he comes back as Super Face Jarrett.

Hopefully he changes his finisher when he comes back as Super Face Jarrett. With 10x more canned cheering!

The Rock Bottom looks bad ass especially when he takes guys into the air. the stroke looked good only in Wrestlemania 2000, that game made that move look cool.

It's a real trademarky looking finisher, I really like it.

Bobby Duncum, Jr. did the full-nelson facebuster, it looked awesome.

How come no one seems to complain about Elijah Burke using it?

the funniest thing about this is that I first started noticing him doing the move in TNA. the other times I would watch him I'd see him win via guitar.

How come no one seems to complain about Elijah Burke using it? I saw Burke managing Terkay once on SmackDown but have yet to see his work in ECW. I didn't even realize he used the move. Is it his finisher?

Is it his finisher? Yes and no. I have only seen him win 2 singles matches. One was the knock out on the Sandman and the other was using the Stroke (called the Elijah Experience) on a jobber on Smackdown!.
