I think we're supposed to assume they were looking at monitors, BUT THEY WERE LOOKING RIGHT AT THE PAPER.

They can't be reading from scripts. That would mean that every move is scripted. Every move from start to finish isn't predetermined unless one of the wrestlers is Randy Savage.

arthuradams2002, just because they hand them scripts for a few promo segments doesn't mean the entire show has to be scripted - but those were definitely scripts they were reading for that segment.

I'm thinking the Abyss-Sting brawl had to have had botched spot or something, and doing a shot of the announcers was a way to edit it out.

I thought this was weird when I saw it last week, but I just thought they were looking at the monitors. It does look silly with them shouting downward, and yet there's a camera man filming them the whole time.
