I have a question about last night's PPV where Christy Hemme was in a match with the Big Fat Oily guy. I read a report where they had a tuxedo match, which Christy won (meaning she wasn't stripped). Then apparently after the match Kip James came out and stripped Christy.
Now I won't flat out berate this, since I did not see the PPV and I do not know the context in which it was presented. But it kind of sounds like mildly simulated rape to me. Now I don't like WWE bra and panties matches either, but at least those are presented in the context of two women who both agree to the match, and they both agree to the stipulation. That's why it's basically just a T & A thing and nothing more. When we have Kip James (a guy who wasn't even in the match) coming out after the fact and stripping Christy in front of everyone, that just seems very wrong to me. Not to mention the fact that Christy was seemingly forced into the match by Jim "wrestling purist" Cornette.
Again I did not see the PPV, so it is entirely possible that the report that I read really took things out of context and it wasn't as bad as it sounds. So if anyone here is going to reply to tell me "shut up, you didnt even see the thing so you have no right to complain about it", please dont. I already know that. It's just that from the sounds of things, TNA is adding a whole new level of sexism into an already male-dominated industry and I don't like it.

All Kip did was rip her shirt off, since she was already mostly undressed by the end of the match. but it was fairly obvious that they're going out of their way to bury Christy. The whole thing came off pretty bad, Cornette looked like he was as sexist as Kip was, like it was one fo those "be careful what you wish for" moments. Yet, they have two women wrestling in another match, both of which are very capable of putting a hurting on the guys. More schizo Russo booking. BTW, does anyone find it ironic that TNA was ahrping on WWE for using a fat naked guy as much as they did, and now they're doing it as much.

In fact when the FNOG kept making re-appearances I said TNA and the Voodoo Kin Mafia had become everything they were against. Well, that and BG calling HBK "Michael Kissmybottom"

Cornette as I remember didn't force her into the match, she was excited about the prospect of a woman wrestling a match at the PPV.
I didn't see it either, but I do find it also funny and ironic they use the "Fat Oily Guy" almost as much as WWE does, but WWE is wrong for doing it.
The whole angle with Hemme/Kip is crap anyways.

Well that and the fact that they had to HIRE somebody to be FoG. "LOOK AT US WASTE MONEY TO SPITE YOU, VINCE!"

I just have to question why they bothered to do a story about a woman who wants to wrestle, gets her wish, but isn't allowed to wrestle another woman. Were Gail Kim and Jacqueline both so busy during that segment that they couldn't be bothered to wrestle? Could TNA not be bothered to hire some random indy chick for a one-off?
If TNA's plan was to bury the idea of a woman's division, then this worked. If the plan was to begin a woman's division, they waxed up badly. The only possible outcome of this whole thing is Christy wrestling Kip at a PPV down the line, which will almost inevitably end in a low blow cheap win for Christy, which ain't gonna help the woman's cause at all.
It's all so perplexing.
And the irony of TNA using Fat Oily Guy still is hilarious. "WWE sucks because they do dumb skits with a fat oily guy. So we'll get revenge on them by doing our own skits with our own Fat Oily Guy! YEAH~! TAKE THAT VINNIE MAC~! WE STOLE YOUR DUMB IDEA AND MADE IT OUR OWN! WE'RE DUMBER THAN YOU ARE! NEENER NEENER NEENER!"
WTG TNA.

The thing is, it could be good. I've never had a problem with a woman trying to break out of the stereotypes the business puts on them (see: Fisto, Lu ), but this isn't going to end well. Eventually, they're going to put Kip and Christy in a match and either she'll get dominated, or she'll win cheap. What sucks the most is, Christy should be the face in this, and the jerkass crowd isn't going to let her.

Thanks for the replies guys, I agree with much of what you all are saying.
Regarding Christy/Kip, I don't see how Kip is the babyface here. I remember the last PPV where he basically called Christy a slut and told her to quit wrestling and go back to the strip club or whatever. I'll admit I thought that was a funny line... for a heel. I wasn't expecting anyone to be like "Good point Kip, she SHOULD go back to the strip club." I thought that they were gonna have Christy overcome the adversity and get some recognition for the hard work that some of the ladies do. But no, all it led up to was more embarrassment to Christy and face pops for Kip.
As for the fact that the Naked Oily Guy is a recurring character, that is just ridiculous beyond belief. I'll admit that when TNA first brought him out, I liked it. I thought "Yeah, WWE deserves to get made fun of for Big Dick. TNA is right to ridicule them." But now that the Oily Fat Guy is now appearing on TNA regularly (especially with BDJ pretty much gone from WWE), it basically amounts to TNA using an idea that WWE came up with to get some cheap laughs of their own.
I don't know, but TNA just isn't for me right now. I don't find sexism or fat oily guys to be fun, so I am just going to wait patiently until TNA regains its focus and presents some great wrestling action once again.

The problem, again, lies with the idiots in the Impact crowd. They cheer the crap Kip pulls, like last night. Even the announcers last night put over that they'd rather see Christy lose and not have to see a naked fat guy, which I can understand. But then they still get all horndog when her shirt gets taken off by Kip and almost act like he's the hero. That's pure Russo being in their ear.

Things get borderline rape in wrestling all the time. An attractive female heel manager tries to interfere to help her man, then the babyface grabs her and kisses her sometimes, or spanks her, etc. Someone always ends up stripping the heel after she wins a match like this to humiliate her. Eh. Nothing new. Not that its a good thing, but its nothing new.

The fact that Tenay and Don West are now all horny for seeing Christy get stripped down is one of the main reasons why I am disappointed in what TNA has become. I used to praise the TNA announcers (unpopular as it may have been) because I really loved how they put over the actual wrestling in the matches and didn't act like frat boys with headsets (read "Jerry Lawler"). That kinda changed though lately.

So it sounds like TNA isn't so much an alternative anymore as they are trying to be like the E. I like Christy, I dunno why they're treating her like this, and besides when Mickie was in TNA as Alexis Laree, she fought guys and was treated better than this. Hell I still can't figure out why Vince let Christy go anyway

It's just a low-budget version of WWE right now,IMO.
The reason why Christy got booed over Kip stems back from the last PPV where her horrible acting didn't endear herself to the Impact Zone fans. It was bad, and I'd probably boo her also (as hot as she is) if she was going on like she was at Final Resolution.
I can't really comment on last night as I didn't see it, but there is no continuity when Christy is trying her damndest to wrestle a regular match and later on you got Jacqueline and Gail Kim in a mixed tag with the men. Russo at his finest here.
