well, I wouldn't call what the WWE does a sport, that's for damn sure.
However, companies like Ring of Honor (at least what little I've watched of it) show that pro wrestling does have the potential of looking like a sport.
And, everyone else makes a point. The crap ESPN (ya know, the ALL SPORTS channel) puts on the air is supposedly a sport, so wrestling makes sense.
AND, since ESPN used to air pro wrestling, my official answer is that yes, pro wrestling is a sport, right alongside spelling bees, mini golf, strongman, figure skating, Scrabble, poker, and hot dog eating. Hey, they all air on ESPN, too.

Competition is the dividing line on whether or not its a sport for me. Ballet is actually a really good analog I think, in that you have to be athletic as all get out, but it's a performance art that at its best tells a story unique to the artform. Hell Terry Funk talked about the threeway match between he, Sabu, and Douglas and how great the " dance" was that night.
