That's right, I just talked to Stamp for like 55 minutes. He seems like a nice enough guy. And it sounds like he has a TON of stories.
He was in Mid-South, Florida, LA, Amarillo, hell he even went to Australia for 10 weeks. Bet you didn't know that Stampmania ran wild down under for a while, huh?
I'm just getting it to my computer now, and I will post a clip for you guys.
He sounds like he is open for doing other interviews in the future, which is great, because he sounds like he has a lot to say.

Watch everyone in Wrestlecrap start to feel better about him and not attack him so much if he posts here (Which I doubt he will)
I find Wrestlecrappers ridiculous. Same with Konga Dave. At first everyone made him look like dirt but he comes here and everyone is suddenly kind to him.

I thought WrestleCrap loved Stamp?

Yeah, I sure as hell feel bad about the bad rap he's gotten (But not quite bad enough to take Mt. Stampmore out of rotation just yet).
He seems like he loves the buisness, but he's not that hung up about not being around it. He seems like one of the few that has gotten over not being involved with it. He sounded just happy to relive some old memories.

I thought WrestleCrap loved Stamp? Yeah really, I make light of Stamp's part of Beyond The Mat out of love. And after talking to 'em, I feel even worse. At least he's likeable, unlike Virgil.

Yeah totally man, when that vid of Konga Dave came around even my non wrestling fan friends found the vid and got a laugh out of it, I was one of the few at the time that had to pound it into people that it's his kind of passion for wrestling that makes me happy to be a fan myself. I saw Beyond the Mat again last night on TV and I felt more sympathetic for him than anything, he seemed like a really nice dude, I'm looking forward to the interview.

I'm not on the Stamp bandwagon by any means, but it's cool to see people who were grateful to just be part of the business in any part instead of people who are bitter because they weren't good enough to make it to the top.

Are you going to post an MP3 file of your interview with Stamp? If so, you can be sure I'll check it out!
Way to go, by the way. You are right up there with Konga Dave as one of Wrestlecrap's heroes, bridging the gap between this community and the wrestlers we obsess over.

And yes I'm trying to post a clip of Stamp talking about Harley Race. My server for my site is down at the moment (where the full interview will be in due time at www.turnbuckle-talk.com), so for now I have it upped on YSI. Here is the link: download.yousendit.com/6B2641B90AF2F53B It's only about 2 megs, so even if you are on dial-up, do yourself a favor and hear a great story. Let me know what you guys think!

At first everyone made him look like dirt but he comes here and everyone is suddenly kind to him. Er, who are these people that are supposedly 'attacking' Stamp? I see laughter and fascination, but no personal attacks. As far as Konga Dave, the only attacks I've seen him receive have been from people too lazy to find out what Dave was crying about before judging him. Did I laugh at the Konga Dave video? Hell yes. But I laughed at the cryptic expression Dave used ("It's still real to me, damnit") and his redneck dialect ("Thank you so much Mr. Funk for saying what needed to be say-ud"), not at the individual and his motive for crying. Matter of fact, I respect Dave for having the balls to talk about a subject that most wrestling fans all-too conveniently ignore. So, to sum up why I laugh, it's not WHAT Konga dave said so much as it is HOW he say-ud (er, said) it.

At first everyone made him look like dirt but he comes here and everyone is suddenly kind to him. Well first of all, you are not allowed to attack people on the boards or make fun of them. So even if you wanted to bash KongaDave, you'd get banned from the forum. But most of all, KongaDave was a guy with a good sense of humour. He was able to laugh at everything and didn't take himself that seriously. He also explained why he cried and what exactely happened. So it's nothing personal and Dave will agree with you if you say that him crying and saying 'It's still real to me dammit!' isn't his best moment. With Stamp it was a joke that turned into a huge fad. Everybody seemed to remember him and it just grew and grew. But once again, it was nothing personal. Just a wrestler still wanting and hoping that he could relive the old days. It was sad, but at the same time very funny because of the way he acted around Terry Funk and some of the stuff he said. With guys like Ultimate Warrior however it is personal, because he has shown himself as an extremely unlikeable person. He is an asshole who made fun of The Renegade's death. My signature is an actual quote of him. And if the Warrior would start posting here and everybody would welcome him with open arms, then you would be right with what you are saying.

That "It's still real to me, dammit!" guy posts here? Sweet. So what was that all about? I'm not judging him. I understand people getting passionate about stuff like this. I'm just curious.
So what does the Stampman (Stamp downunder = Awesome!) think of the phenomenon that he started? Next time could you ask him if he's gotten any bookings based on his Beyond the mat fame?

I'll go on record saying that a harbor a deep hatred for Mr. Warrior ever since the shoot video I saw.
If he EVER posts here, he'll know my opinion of him. And that I own the DVD that he hates so much.

At first everyone made him look like dirt but he comes here and everyone is suddenly kind to him. Everyone didn't make him look like dirt. I haven't even seen the "It's real to me damnit" speech. I don't want to see it. I don't need to see it. People are people and deserve the same respect that you want them to show you. It's one thing for me to say that the Undertaker hasn't done anything entertaining in years and should retire. That's just a character. It'd be completely different if I said Mark Calloway deserves to die for taking up my TV time. One expresses distaste with the direction a character has gone, another expresses the desire to see another human dead. I've never said anything remotely bad about Kongadave, and there are a lot of other people on these forums that can say the same.
