I completely agree. I love watching wrestling. But I love sports more. In my opinion, wrestling isn't a sport. Their athletic abilities are matched by few and I mean no disrespect to them in that regard. They deserve to be admired for what they can do. But a sport is a competition to see who has the greater abilities, individually or as a team. Anyone who has seen Kurt Angle beaten repeatedly by John Cena knows that being the best at what you do doesn't mean squat in wrestling. Someone in the back decides who wins. In sports, the only deciding factor in winning is hunger and/or teamwork, not whether or not you pissed off a guy in the back a few weeks ago. I'm speaking simply of my personal preferences. I'd be silly to knock someone for enjoying one over the other when I enjoy both of them on the level that I do. These are just small reasons why I prefer one over the other. i see what you mean, and i get where you are coming from. however, i would be careful with a line like "But a sport is a competition to see who has the greater abilities, individually or as a team", because it is phrases like this that will lead to video game compitions on espn (instead of just the 23 hours of texas hold'em they show daily). Touche. Athletic abilities. There we go.

Peyton Manning vs. the Bears' highly touted defense, or any show involving THE GREAT KHALI?
I'll go with Super Sunday. The last "real" week of football might have been two weeks ago, but unless we're talking Wrestlemania VIII here, I'm going with the Super Bowl.

Wrestlemania... I only watch the Superbowl for the commercials Ugh, the commercials are the worst part. ...Wait, no. The Fox announce team is the worst part (I HATE YOU JOE BUCK, GO AWAY GO AWAY GO AWAY), followed closely by most of the half-time shows (I still haven't forgiving MTV for subjecting us to Aerosmith have to share a stage with N-Sync, Britney Spears, and Mary Jay Blighe. Gag me).

I've tried watching soccer on several occasions, and how that is exciting while football is boring I'll never understand. I'll just hafta chalk that up to diff strokes.
But again Superbowl by miles and miles.

But again Superbowl by miles and miles. WHAT? The constant stopping of play for one thing. I tried watching the Super Bowl once, I really tried & just got so tired of the fact that they stopped everything for about 3 minutes whenever somebody scored. Soccer has a pretty constant flow of action, as far as I'm concerned.

Can't understand why a lot of Americans (although, suprisingly, not so many on here) can sit through hours of a few seconds a action, so they can stop the game for a minute, then play a few more seconds, then hold it up for 5 whilst they measure the distance. But they some how find soccer a dull sport! If you truely understand the finer points of the game, those "few seconds" can be more thrilling then a full hour of other "non-stop" sports.I'm not criticiizing anyone tastes or whatever, but I have noticed how easily non-americans just write off the sport, completely denying the incredible athleticism it takes just to play it. I'm not a fan of nascar either, but I've been to a race, and those things are crazy. For the fans of the sport, each race is full blown event the same way WM to us..and from what I understand,it's based on a points system, counting laps lead, wins, places, finishes, etc. all sports have a science behind them, after all, wrestling is just "rednecks pretending to beat each other up".

Agreed..which explains why my wrestling interest hangs by a thread and i will probably be a philadelphia eagles fan for life, and why i'd pay $300 for playoff tickets, but have turned down offers to watch ppv's at friends houses for free.

WrestleMania. I haven't cared about football since I was about 11 or 12. I can't stand most team sports anymore. A bunch of guys that all look the same running around for 15 seconds, then standing around for 5 minutes, continued for 3-4 hours, interspersed with countless asinine commercials doesn't appeal to me much.
The only "real sports" I like are boxing, MMA, strongman competitions, baseball (once in a while), sumo wrestling, women's beach volleyball, gymnastics, and competitive eating (hey, it's on ESPN isn't it?)
