This could really hurt the wrestlers, because a lot them are trying to build names for themselves as good performers. If Joe hadn't been allowed to compete in ROH and didn't have his 20-something month title reign or his famous series with Punk, or if Alex Shelly was just some goofball with a camera, or Austin Aries a suspiciously flamboyant guy called 'Austin Starr', or Homicide an angry guy that wore a bandana and made machine gun noises, or Jay Lethal a bland flip-floppy X-Division no-namer, or Low Ki a guy called 'Senshi' who kicks guys ... who would they be, ultimately? Someone worth tuning in to see? The thing is, I WOULDN'T be able to get behind all of these guys if all I saw of them was their TNA stuff. And I watch TNA because these guys, who have competed in ROH and other promotions, have shown me that they're GREAT wrestlers and I can see them on television. I know they're entirely different animals in TNA, but they were given the opportunity in ROH to show me that they were so much more. Joe's nearly two-year ROH World Title run ended in December 2004. I believe he was first brought into TNA in the Spring or Summer of 2005. Joe made his name in ROH and TNA brought him in. What's your point? TNA is looking to grow and expand, this is just another step for them and their talent. My point is, how do the younger guys who can't wrestle outside of TNA build a legacy like Joe? Say Joe was working for TNA and they said 'no, you can't work other promotions' while he WAS the ROH Champion. What I'm getting at is that with only one show to showcase their skills, newer wrestlers might not explode like Joe, Punk and the like did. They might only get a few minutes of television time every second week, like a Rob Conway or a Kevin Thorne, and never get over because that's all that people see of them - quick, meaningless matches.

I don't have a real big problem with it, provided these guys are getting paid well enough to not work elsewhere.

Didn't we establish yet that TNA isn't pulling anyone?
Again, this newsbit was said last year as TNA was moving to Spike, and it didn't happen.

Well, my bad. I just went back and re-listened to the hotline and I apparently misheard some things. None of the "EXPECT these guys to be gone" and "It'll happen in 2-6 months" was actually stated as fact, it was opinion. The factual parts were this. The general feeling from talking to a number of people in TNA is that it's only a matter of time before more people get picked out of ROH and other independents, and that TNA wants to make them TNA exclusives, period. So uh...my bad

If that happens, TNA is only gonna sign the most over guys to exclusive contratcs. That means, Joe, Aries, Shelly, Cide, Low-Ki, and a few other guys. I don't see much wrong with that, as far as they are concerned. And if that does happen, what is ROH gonna do? The same thing they've done every other time they lost a guy: build someone else up.

Shelley and Low-Ki aren't even in ROH anymore. Their being "TNA-exclusive" wouldn't effect anything.

If some of these names were not allowed to wrestle outside of TNA, all we would see from them is three minute Crash TV style matches. Wouldn't that be hurtful to the men involved? If some of what names?

So.....
Let me get this straight.
TNA wanting to sign their guys to exclusive contracts is bad.
TNA wanting to protect their guys from getting injured on some non televised promotion (and I love ROH, but....), that a majority of the country doesn't know exists, is a bad thing?
But...it's ok when the WWE does it, right?
Jeez you people are full of hypocrisy.
Welcome to the big leagues.
