He threw D'Von through a door once! Kinda! The door got knocked open! Ok, it wasn't totally closed to start off with! But still! THERE'S your respect!

The injury really screwed him up. He used to have good intense power moves, but now he can barely lift some guys up. I was so disapointed with his match against Booker at Summerslam

Big muscles don't always equal strength. Look at Steiner and how he could barely pick up HHH at the Rumble a few years ago. That was thanks to the drop foot syndrome.

If you ever watch those Strongest man competitions, they're not muscle-y Batista types, they're big fatsos. Unless your name is Mariusz Pudzianowski. But he's unusual.

He was damn strong when he was smaller and he has an amateur wrestling background. But I agree that big muscles don't always equal strength. You have some guys like Lesnar, Scott Norton, Goldberg, Lashley or even Kurt Angle and others. who are legit athletes and you have roided up sports entertainers like Batista, John Cena, Triple H, Warrior who have a bodybuilding background where looks are more important than power. Hell, even Vince McMahon looks strong, while I think many 180 lbs amateur wrestlers are way stronger than him. Except Cena has a powerlifting background, if I remember correctly. He looks slimmer, or at least less defined, than his UPW days. Everyone else, yeah.

Even muscular Vince had to cheat to beat Zach Gowan in arm-wrestling for gawd's sake.

Those guys aren't necessarily fat. They're just incredibly bulky. There's lots of muscle under there, it's just not defined or toned.

Speaking of "fat guys", didn't Mick Foley mention in his book that he could bench press over 500 lbs? I might be wrong, though.

Hell, he practically lifted Booker T for the powerbomb all by himself because Booker messed it up in the beginning.

People may hate Cena, but you can't deny that he his a strong mother f***er. The guy can lift the Big Show and do an FU on him for christ sake.
Batista is very weak, as he has trouble picking up Finlay. Muscles don't equal strength.

I can't, but I was told that wrestlers in the old days(70's and 80's) trained a lot for gaining strength. I believe a proper training back then was bench pressing at least 400 pounds, so I was told.

I doubt Foley could bench 500 lbs. He's probaby in the 300 or so range. Most big guys in the gym bench around that range, and they're pretty hardcore. I think what i read in Foley's book was him curling 60 pounds or something. But then again, I've smoked myself retarded. This is why people should never quote me.

I really don't think the thing about Foley is true. I have his first book, and the only talk of bench pressing that I can recall had him say that Chyna could bench press a lot more than he could.

FUing Show, although definitely not easy, isn't as hard as it looks, a lot of wrestlers/athletes could probably do it, it's basically the equivalent of squatting 500lbs but even squatting would be harder.
Batista, Steiner etc.. i assure you aren't weak, the fact that there 40+ probably doesn't help though (and i'm guessing loads of wear and tear on Steiners body)

Both bodybuilders and powerlifters are strong alike, the difference between the two lifestyles are the goals that the athlete is after. In powerlifting, your strength will increase a little faster than your muscular build. In bodybuilding, your musculature will build a little faster, and your overall power will build slower than a powerlifter's would, but It will still build. I'm a personal trainer, I know. Batista is strong, you can't build muscle and not build strength with It.
The thing that has annoyed me with wrestling, is that I've always said that the wrestlers should never catter to the smarks, and every now and then, I get proven right.
Alot of people say that certain wrestlers should do more impressive moves ect...But I say they shouldn't do It if it dosen't match their charactor or what their charactor's strategy would be. A power wrestler should do power moves, like Batista. Batista should be doing powerfull moves, and when he does, everyone always says "he can't do any other moves, he dosen't have great workrate." Whenever Batista does lighterweight moves, and moves quicker, some will say that he's not strong. He shouldn't listen to that. Batista should just slow his pace down, use powerfull moves, let the audience boo, flex more, and then when he does a quick athletic move, tha audience will cheer more because It meant something. Batista shouldn't just change his overall style just because the fans critisize him too much. He's a great worker. It dosen't really matter If we know It or not.
