Do you remember a couple of years ago they started having promo's about a descendant of Emporor Hirohito and then all of a sudden it was dropped? How about all of the promo's on Braccus then all he did was get punked in Brawl for All then never seen again? Of course then there was the famous Seven from WCW. Can you all think of any more ideas that the wrestling industry started promoting for weeks on end then never really went through with it?
But then again, how about some who they built up then brought them in and...wha? Take The Highlanders. Here we had weeks and weeks of buildup then they actually wrestle and even put them in a program that looked like they were title bound then...they give the belts to Piper and Flair...then to Edge and Orton...then to Cena and Michaels. Same with Cade and Murdoch. They built them up as a heel tag team and even gave them the straps then...

Don't forget Mordecai. Awesome build up, interesting gimmick with potential, then he loses to Rey Mysterio and that's it.

It always drives me nuts when that happens. The worst had to be Sean O'Haire. The "Devil's Advocate" gimmick was built up for weeks and featured some of the best promo videos that I've ever seen. Then he shows up, tells Spanky to run around naked, and the writers drop it. I can understand why, it just didn't seem like it would play out well on TV...But damn, I loved that gimmick.

I think in the case of Brakkus it was a classic case of "Ahmed Johnson" syndrome;he had a good look but was neither good nor safe in the ring;plus he could not cut a good promo.
The most infamous case of "build up gone nowhere ever" was probably Tully & Gino back in the 80's;they worked for months up to a face turn by Gino that led into a very hot looking feud but they only had 2 matches before Gino left the company.

My all-time favorite has to be Glacier. They built him up for months, and then he just flops. At least we got Mortis out of it

Brakkus also had a match at the "Mayhem in Manchester" show, but the vhs shows like 15 seconds of it and Double J won.

Shannon Moore is a good recent example. Same brand, same thing: Rene Dupree.

We can all thank him being paired with Roddy Piper for that one.

What about the Gooker itself?! Too true, actually. Months of buildup on the egg to reveal some sort of turkey/man hybrid that, from everything I've seen dissapeared completely after that show, never to be seen again until WM 17.
