Its fairly obvious to everyone that batista isnt that popular anymore..his once good charisma has gone...but why is this??
I asked a friend why he didnt like batista anymore(he used 2 mark for him previously) and he said that after the booker fight he just didnt seem the same...The reason batista got over according to alot of fans and sites is that he came across as a genuine nice guy..who was clever and could kick your ass...
But after his fight with booker..it came out that he wanted 2 leave smackdown because it wasnt the same league as raw..and how he was acting like a jerk backstage..etc..
Once this came out the image batista had going for him was destroyed...people say hes not over because of his lack of mic skills...or poor/boring wrestling style ..but hes always been like that..even when he was really over just before his injury!
Does anyone esle think the booker T incident may be the reason for batistas decline?

I always thought it to be the arm injury.

maybe .01 percent a part of it, with the other 99.99 being the injuries, and his apparent physical decline/lack of speed/power he once had in the ring.

He's still very popular in front of WWE fans. But even the most hardcore of them know when someone is dogging it. See: Royal Rumble and Kennedy chants.
That injury really took a lot out of him mentally.

No it's because Batista came back looking like crap! I mean he wasn't great before and now he's even worse. Also most people didn't know /or remember that. Plus Batista has a cocky attitude, he always has just because he is Hunter's friend he gets the rub, pathetic. Although I feel Batista's time is ending and very soon MVP and Kennedy will dominate and Batista will be gone. Bye-bye you botching piece of crap!

Yeah, he really hasn't been the same since the arm injury. Then again, with his age we all knew he didn't have that long of a shelf life anyway.

lack of talent and charisma can only get you so far.
Batista was great when he would say some smartass thing backstage and go out and destroy someone. Then he started hugging JR. It was all down hill from there.

I think throwing around allegations about the guy's attitude 'backstage' is a bit unfair honestly. You can see the in-ring decline. Not so much his " cocky attitude".

I think it mainly has to do with three factors:
1: Triple H made Batista look MUCH better than he was. 2: Batista's injuries made him more cautious and less intense in the ring. 3: The reaction at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

I'd argue his momentum was already gone before he started feuding with Booker. that and Booker was way too good as King Booker to be feuding with someone whose obviously dogging it.

I still believe the Booker/Batista fight was a complete work. But regardless..
I think Batista is still pretty popular and pretty over, eh.

But even I've somewhat soured on Batista since he came back, I wanted the same Batista who left in the first place to come back, he left the title in a very modest and respectful way, I didn't like that when he came back the only thing he really said was "I WANT MY TITLE BACK!" Since he won the title though I've been liking him more again, had a tremendous match with Kennedy, REALLY looking forward to his match with Batista(I'm going on the assumption that that's Undertaker's pick for Wrestlemania), but his character definetely wasn't what it used to be when he returned.

Batista just hasn't been the same since he came back, IMO. He used to be a pretty good power wrestler. Now it just seems like he's lazy and half-asses his matches.
I really liked him in 2005. Now I have a much lesser opinion of him.

He never had "great charisma" and no one actually knows what happened, so you can't call him a jerk etc... I think his just gotten a little slower, had loads of rust and just didn't mesh well with Booker (style wise). He can still be carried to a good match, and really, that's all that matters (oh and his over to )

I think his ECW match did a bit of damage to him.

John Cena and Batista in their respective Hammerstein appearances really made me finally appreciate Cena as a worker. Cena used the crowd to his advantage and reportedly loved the abuse he took. Batista whined like a little girl. And ONS was so close to Mania, basically saving Cena's career as a face. So Hammerstein didn't screw Batista, Batista screwed Batista.

Cena played with the crowd, while Batista just got played by the crowd

Putting him against Kennedy repeatedly was a very bad choice.
When trying to get your face champ over (or over again, in Batista's case), the last thing you should do is have them feud with a heel that gets a good amount of face pops.
Remember when they did that with Cena/Jericho? Didn't work well at all, it's roughly the same deal here.
It would have been much better to build up a different heel for the time being, and maybe use Kennedy later on.

Wellness Plan. Batista use to be a monster stong and huge. Then he comes back and gets winded in matches, can hardy pick people up, and looked only a tad bigger then Kennedy. Oh and looks stupid with a shaved head.

I actually think the match against the Big Show on ECW killed Batista's heat.....Just didn't have a very good match with the Show and the ECW faithful made it very clear how they felt.
