I've never been a fan of Batista's but you can go back and watch his matches with Triple H and JBL and compare them to his recent matches against King Booker and Mr. Kennedy, there is quiet a difference. Batista has never been a good wrestler, but he use to more intense wrestler, yet now it seems he just does the bare minimum to get by. I'm sure it's more-so injuries contributing to this over crowd reactions and peoples opinions of him backstage.

You know, as much as people dislike Triple H (and rightly so) for his backstage power, he really proved what a good wrestler he was during his feud with Batista. He made many people believe that Batista was a world-beater.

Wellness Plan. Batista use to be a monster stong and huge. Then he comes back and gets winded in matches, can hardy pick people up, and looked only a tad bigger then Kennedy. Oh and looks stupid with a shaved head. A tad bit bigger then Kennedy???! You sir, need to get off the crystal meth

maybe .01 percent a part of it, with the other 99.99 being the injuries, and his apparent physical decline/lack of speed/power he once had in the ring. yeah he's not as EXPLOSIVE as he once was, I think WWE holding him off of TV is making his TV matches seem more important. If there was any wrestler to light a fire under somebody's ass and if there ever was a show to exhibit that fire, Wrestlemania against Undertaker is the time. He's show flashes of his old self in short spurts, but as of late he's not the animal. He's just been domesticated. I really hope he turns heel going into wrestlemania, and I really hope this is more the writers than Batista. He's been coasting and nobody has really posed a threat to him. This is why he wanted Taker's answer on SD

I don't really think its anyone one thing that killed Batista's momentum. Rather, a combination of several.
The injury is part of it, you can tell he is more cautious in the ring. Where we once had an animal every bit as dominating as a modern day Goldberg, we know have a timid kitten. Where he used to come out, and basically destroy people, he now comes out and obviously half asses a lot of his matches and moves.
Booking him with Kennedy in a feud was a huge mistake. When you are trying to get a face champ over, again...putting him with someone that gets more pops as a heel than most faces on the roster get, is just asking to kill off his momentum.
The wellness policy has obviously hit him hard. Where he used to be enormous, he's pulled the Chris Masters deflate routine like it was a Oscar winning performance. Sure, he's still big, but he's not huge like he used to be and it shows.
When he left from his injury, he did so with class and style. It really made you feel like he had a brain in his head. Since coming back, he's said "I want my title back!" more times than RVD has said "cool".
King Booker was a great heel champ. Even the people that didn't like him, didn't want to see him lose the title, especially to Batista. It would have been one thing if he came out, and destroyed Booker in a squash match for the title as soon as he came back. However, that didn't happen. Instead it was played out that Batista barely had enough in him to get the title back, and it took him a long time to do so.
Finally, during his initial run on Smackdown where he gained all that momentum as "the animal"., people were still fresh on the concept of just exactly how good Triple H made Batista appear to be. Smackdown has no one on their entire roster capable of doing that for Batista this time around. Say what you want about Triple H, love him or hate him....when he wants to, he can make almost anyone look like they are 10 times better than they actually are in the ring.
All in all, when you combine each of those things together, its a suprise that Batista even got his title back, much less that he still has it.
I don't honestly know what, if anything, Batista could do to put himself back over at this point.

Its definitely the injuries that have taken their toll - initially I thought he was just getting over the ring rust but he hasn't been the same. Its a shame because he does come across as a decent guy but the effort isn't there anymore, which is a shame. I would much rather Booker or Kennedy had the title.

Seeing the champs together in the ring friday, made me remember how much Cena has busted has ass the past two years, and Batista is kinda just getting by. It was really bad when Michaels and Taker came into the ring. It was almost like one of these things is not like the others, one of these things just doesn't belong. I hope they book him strong going into wrestlemania, and I just hope he doesnt injure him self again.

Batista was never anything special. I don't know, if someone was looking for a middle-aged and talentless version of Brock Lesnar, Batista would be the most special wrestler on the planet.
