So, lots of people have been pissed about Punk's "burial" ever since he got pinned in the Elimination Chamber (If thats the case, 5 other men were buried too) and lost to Holly (which I was fine with) and Striker (Which sucked, and I dont even like Punk)
People say he is being punished for everything from "out popping" DX at Survivor Series, to making out with Maria backstage.
What if, just, WHAT IF........
WWE knows what they are doing.
Perhaps this is being done to save CM Punk from falling into the "overpushed" catagory that can seemingly turn fans AGAINST relative newcomers almost overnight, IE, the Rocky Maivia Syndrome?
Thats my opinion at this point, that WWE would rather invest long term interest in Punk as opposed to a flash in the pan.
Of course, this is the same company that'd put John Cena over Bigfoot and Grave Digger in a Handicap Car Crush Challenge, but, who knows?
Anyone agree?

That's brilliant logic, but sadly there are folks here that simply wont be happy unless Punk wins all 3 titles then beats Hogan at wrestlemania in 30 seconds via submission

Perhaps. My biggest worry with any wrestler who has the reins pulled back on him is that you start to get the mentality of "All right, so he isn't winning matches. Big deal, they're saving his best for later." Then, two months after that, you see said wrestler getting jobbed out on Heat, and then you never see him again. That's just me.
I didn't think CM's losses aren't bad losses. I just wish they had come against quality wrestlers, not Hardsnore Holly and a guy with a teacher gimmick.

How many of those wrestlers you just described teamed with Shawn Michaels and Triple H on one of the biggest PPV's of a year, had t-shirts, and action figures produced of them mere months after their debut? And, come on. lack of push and crowd interest does NOT mean Bob Holly is not a quality wrestler. Hell, I never liked Dean Malenko, and most mainstream WWE fans didnt either, but if I was to suggest he wasn't quality I'd be crucified here.

I still don't think CM Punk is even being de-pushed to begin with. I just see it as other wrestlers getting a push. When Striker beat Punk for example, I didn't see that as Punk getting buried. I saw it as Striker getting a push. Same goes for Holly's win... I just saw that as Holly getting a push as well. If Punk was undefeated and he beat everyone else on ECW's already-thin roster, then the entire show would be based on him. In order for ECW to succeed, there need to be several guys that headline the show and not just the one.

Didn't something similar happen to Carlito since he debuted on RAW? He's practically an afterthought.

I agree that CM Punk is being used to work the internet. In fact, the whole last episode of ECW seems like it was designed for that purpose.
Think about it, Vince McMahon walks around backstage and buries all the ECW originals. Next thing you know, CM Punk is in the ring getting pinned by Matt Stryker. Then, Hardcore Holly continues his winning streak with a victory over RVD.
What do all these things have in common? Who are they going to get heat from?
All these rumors about Arn Anderson and Finlay disliking Punk make the whole thing seem like a work too. I suggested a scenario in another thread where Punk should end up going to RAW to do a newcomer accusing a veteran of holding down a newcomer type storyline with someone like Shawn Michaels.

Even tought you have a nice theory, explain me this: They overpush Khali. Yet, they don´t overpush Punk, who is a better worker and was always more over than Khali. Why?

That'd be great, except Shawn would never put him over unless 50 million people interfered and he must win the rematch or else he'll go and whine about it on TV. As for Punk losing, if this continues in 6-8 months with no progression, then you could say Punk is being buried, but as for now he's doing alright. The only ECW guy who lasted as long as he did at the Rumble was Punk so I think they still hold him in high regard.

I don't really care about the Punk situation one way or another at this point...but we can never have enough Carlito disliking. Way to go, Godz!

This has more to do with the post 2002-3 booking style. Its not just Punk, its the whole thing. Coherent booking has been as viable as building a snowman in a desert. So we get fits and spurts booking, which highlights the short termism of the WWE.

Even tought you have a nice theory, explain me this: They overpush Khali. Yet, they don´t overpush Punk, who is a better worker and was always more over than Khali. Why? Easy Notice I said "long term" with Punk. Concievably, he could be in the WWE for 10 years to come. Khali has maybe 1-2 years tops before his novelty act is old, even to Vince, and we all know men that size simply can NOT last long due to health reasons, and Khali, unlike Big Show, is no athlete. He's a freak. I'm not trying to insult the man, thats just how I see it. Vince wants to get the most bang for his buck on Khali and thats it. No sense developing someone like that.

Godz makes a really good point. The way I see it, Punk's in the same position now that Shelton Benjamin was a couple of years ago, in that he's probably more talented than half the guys on the roster, but he's in this weird limbo as far as his push is concerned. He's not being buried, but he's certainly not being used to his full potential. Right now, his career's totally dependent on WWE's booking. If booked right, you're looking at the next big thing, and if booked wrong, he's just another guy that'll only be on Heat.
