It's either Savage/Steamboat at WM3
or Austin/Bret at WM13.
Austin vs Bret at WM13 is more of an 4 star match than 5 star.

I can't even call HBK/Bret in the ironman over rated anymore. More people seem to bad mouth it than defend it. I didn't like it either, for the record.

Savage/Warrior from WM 7. The pacing is uneven and the match solely survives on the retirement gimmick.

Yep, Shawn/Bret WM12. I watched it live on PPV in 1996 and I was dissapointed. The last couple of minutes were good though.

I've never seen Bret/Shawn in its entirety, but that was on purpose. I can't watch any match for one hour, regardless of who is in there. The last 10 minutes or so were good, but from what I've read, the first 50 minutes were very slow, so I'll give that the most overrated honor.

Yeah, to be fair the last part leading to and including the over time is very good. The rest? Meh.

Hogan vs. Andre, obviously.
And HBK/McMahon from this year, obviously. Ever feel like WWE paid PWI for that one?

Hogan vs. Andre, obviously. Way to comment on something you obviously weren't around for, therefore unable to fully understand exactly how big that match was and what it meant to the industry at the time. No one has EVER claimed it be a mat classic or even a "good" match. That's not what it was about. Not even close. Triple H vs Shawn Michaels vs Chris Benoit is highly overrated. Decent match blown up by smarks because A) Benoit won and B) Benoit and Eddie hugged. Awww.

Agreed. Their rematch at the following Backlash was much better.

If you weren't "in the moment" Hogan/Andre is no better than a Khali/Gigante match.

This actually brings up a good question. How much does significance to the industry factor in to these kinds of things.
My best example is the Shawn Michaels v Razor Ramon ladder match. For the time when it happened, that was thought of as an incredible match. And even today I still see people call it the best ladder match ever. But, from watching all the ladder matches that have come after, which have easily topped it as far as quality goes, I have to assume it's just because of what it meant at the time.
Then around to Hogan/Andre. As a match it's total garbage to me. Boring, dull, typical of what I would expect from a match with those two at that time. But because of the it's significance does that make it immune to being called over rated as one of the greatest matches ever? I guess that's for everyone to decide on their own.

I can't say on the matches I wasn't around for. Watching them live or relatively close to helps with the experience. So that leaves the late 90's to now.
I have to say well: Triple Threat Match at WMXX. Honestly the Benoit and Eddie Moment was better than the match. And Backlash blew that out of the water.
