HBK and Bret.
Should have been a no DQ brawl.

I think Savage/Steamboat is the BEST match in WM history. The psychology was unparalleled.

Way to comment on something you obviously weren't around for, therefore unable to fully understand exactly how big that match was and what it meant to the industry at the time. No one has EVER claimed it be a mat classic or even a "good" match. That's not what it was about. Not even close. Agreed. My biggest pet peeve about wrestling fans is their inability to keep their mouth shut when it relates to something they weren't around (or alive) to see. I wasn't around in the '70's, so I don't comment on it. I never saw the NWA, so I don't comment on it. Yet we have teenage smarks on here commenting on things that happened 5 years before they were even fetus's. I agree with HHH/Benoit/Michaels being overrated, but not as overrated as Bret/Shawn, IMO. As someone else mentioned, make Bret/Shawn a regular match, and it instantly becomes better.

With the amount of hate it's getting, the Ironman match is now the most underrated match of all time.

I like Hart/HBK, Ironman match. It was good and not having a fall until overtime was awesome, by far the best Ironman match. Also I feel the slow pace was great I mean what did you want them go do a face paced and have a typical match? The Iron Man rules is what made the match good. I feel it was a great match and seriously have some patience!
Although, I do feel Survivor Series '97 was much better just because of the brawl at the start and the shocking end that started the attitude era in WWF.
But still HBK/Hart awesome WM match. most overrated WM match has got to be HBK vs McMahon. It was okay but really not a motyc seriously WTF! I mean Foley vs Edge was far better!

I agree that the Iron Man match is overrated. I've seen it a couple of times and I just can't get into it. It's very slowly paced with only a couple of periods of action. It's not a bad match but it would have been better as a regular match. Especially considering that the Iron Man rules were essentially useless. I think if Bret and Shawn would have exchanged a fall or two it would have been a lot more exciting.
It's true some matches haven't aged as well. Hogan/Andre was a huge match and still has that special feeling. But when you watch the match, you can't deny that it's not a well-executed one. Ramon/Michaels is really good as well but the Bret/Owen match at Wrestlemania X and their Summerslam cage match are far superior.

I was never a really big fan of Steamboat/Savage. The thing that made it so popular were the numerous close two counts. Oh boy! Also, it didn't have a clean finish.

Probably Hart vs. Austin. For a match that is considered the "best WrestleMania match ever" I didn't think it was THAT great. I mean, it was good but not the best ever.

I was never a really big fan of Steamboat/Savage. The thing that made it so popular were the numerous close two counts. Oh boy! Also, it didn't have a clean finish. How is that finish not clean? Savage goes for the bell, tries to use it on Steamboat, Steele pushes Savage off the top so he can't use the bell, then Steamboat wins with a small package. If Steamboat had used the bell or pinned Savage after Steele pushed him, then it wouldn't be clean. But the bell or the interference really had nothing to do with the finish of the match. And even though Gorilla mentions the bell hitting Savage in the head, it clearly doesn't happen that way.

I have to agree with a lot of the people here, the iron man match wasn't that great. But, it's because it's a one hour match.
Think about it, have you ever seen a one hour iron man match that was actually good? I've seen a few, and none of them have yet to hold my interest for the full hour. It's just too long. The guys working it will get too blown up too quickly if they go at it full boar right away, so they have to play it cool until there is about 20 minutes left and then pull out everything to put on a great match. Had it maybe of been a half hour, or even 45 minutes, it might have been a better match.
But, if Bret and Shawn had been put in almost any other type of match it would have been better. Cage match, best of three falls, last man standing, best of five falls, ladder, even a Texas death match would have been better than an iron man match.

Hands down it is the Ironman match. The Rock - HHH or Lesnar - Angle Iron man matches were a lot better and more exciting.

For a guy who can actually comment on matches of the 70's(Hogan/Andre Shea Stadium>Hogan/Andre WMIII), allow me to comment. The matches offered are both not overrated. I saw the Savage/Steamboat in a theater full of people on a big screen(before the age of ppv) and it felt like we were there, the place went nuts during the whole match. Shame they had Steamboat job to HTM a short time later. Wrestling was different in those days. One has to look no further than the Big Ones on WWE 24/7 to get what I mean. Just watch the Old School shows when such fine matches as Johnny Rodz v Jose Luis Rivera went 12 to 15 minutes. Comparing matches from different era's woudl be like comparing The Beatles to Nirvana.
Anyhoo, Austin/Hart had a bigger impact on the industry than Savage/Steamboat could ever dream because it catapulted Austin to main event status and eventually the biggest star in the history of the business.

Savage vs Steamboat at WMIII
I think the problem is time constraints. It ends just as I get into it. If they'd have given them 10 minutes or so longer, I'd probably be able to rate it higher.

Hart Vs Michaels Iron Man Match at Wrestlemania XII
Terrible match, just because of the two guys involved it somehow gets branded with the 'classic' tag, but it was FAR from that. It was slow, uninteresting, failed to tell a story and in the end totally predictable. Neither men had the ability to pace themselves for the hour and as a result everything just plodded along until the finish. The crowd was DEAD for virtually the entire match and the 'pop' for the winning pinfall at the end has to be the quietest for a WM main event in history

I think the iron man match is the obvious choice, however it was not that bad. The main issue with it was they decided to make it a no score draw - had it been 2-2 or something that would have kept the crowd interested. I did like the finish - and Bret's strop at the end always makes me laugh.
