Because it's still better then most of the crap on tv Well said. May not seem impressive, but sadly, in my experience, it's true.

I don't want to insult anyone (except for the people in charge at the WWE) but after reading RDs article on how the WWE keeps exploiting the death of Eddie Guerrero, I feel a need to ask this question. What is it going to take to make people stop putting up with the WWE? Personally, after reading RDs article and watching wwECW for the past two weeks, I am about ready to put my Wrestlemania tickets on ebay and just say to hell with the WWE. Amen. I was just talking to my friend's brother who wants me to order WM and I told him, there is nothing that interested me except the Taker match, and I know he won't lose. Just because some jerkoff is saying he will, doesn't mean he will (they said the same thing about him putting over Orton 2 years ago at Mania and did it happen?). I'd scalp the tickets to be honest. I mean, I went to a live RAW at MSG and it's fun, but it isn't the event that made it fun, it was the crowd.I mean just look at what they've done in the past year. They keep cramming John Cena down our throats desptide the fact that more people hate him than like him, that put GOD in a tag team match and insult religion, they use a mans death as a pitiful attempt to get ratings, they hire Divas who have never seen a wrestling match in their life and don't even know who owns the company they work for, and they reestablish a company that many fans regard as the greatest wrestling company ever and put Bobby Lashley and the Big Show as the world champion, while guys the fans respect like C.M. Punk and RVD are losing cleanly to Bob Holly. I used to go online and have RAW on in the background for noise. Not anymore. I don't watch wrestling that much. I watched ECW this week to see what happened, and last n ight at my friend's house we caught the end of SD! but that was to only reminisce.
I have to disagree with your stance on Big Show and Holly. These two fit the ECW mold perfectly. You can't deny it. Holly is a great stiff wrestler and Show is one of the most talented guys ever, and both of them seem very credible to have switched from WWE brands to ECW. It wasn't like Khali, who was just placed there. Those guys would have made it in the old ECW and been excepted. And it's the truth. They probably would have been booked better, but still, if ECW made Justin Credible a credible champion, these two guys are worlds better than he is, and would be 10x more ECW than he was.
Anyway, I'm not watching WWE anymore. I just lost interest. Even my best friends who were so into it up until a year ago are losing interest.Really why put up with it? I understand the fact that it's free playing a big part of it, but even though it's free I personally don't waste my time watching it and just Tivo the shows and skip through them in about fourty minutes. When I'm in the mood to watch wrestling, I just pop in a indy tape. Really, can someone give me a little insight? When my girlfriend broke up with me, I went back to watching it as "comfort food". Other than that, I don't have a clue why people stick with wrestling, except they love the sport and I think Russo is right when he said that wrestling fans will watch anything. I think it comes down to how devoted you are, and what you are devoted to. I don't watch indy. It's too much of a hassle for me, plus, most of it is God damned boring. Also, I find better use for my time other than watching wrestling, but I'm like that with TV in general. Unless I'm with a friend or people I won't watch just TV, I'll multi task. And just to show that I'm not totally against the WWE, I will admit that they did do some entertaining stuff this past year. The first two or three weeks of the DX reunion was entertaining, One Night Stand was a preaty damn good ppv, and anything Mick Foley did over the past year was some damn good TV. But regardless in my opinion, the bad really outweighed the good. ONS was the best PPV purchase I bought. I wish I could have taped it, but I ordered the webcast. After that, I think is when my interest died. There was so much promise coming from RVD, and Mike Awesome and other guys who I find so interesting. But instead we get Cena and Batista (faggot and landing strip man according to my friends, while Vince is asshole chin, lol). I think I just grew out of it. I love gimmicks, but mature ones. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of Duece and Domino, and I still love Taker and Kane, but still, they are the most fleshed out characters on the roster. I need a reason to care about the people in the ring. UFC, the reason is their fighting, but when it comes to wrestling they have to capture me in interest and skill, like WGTT. Cena and Batista don't do it for me. Most of the roster doesn't do it for me. So I just don't watch.I just wish my obsession with wrestling would end, so I wouldn't feel like such a loser coming to these sites and checking Wrestlezone all the time.

Even though the product is subpar at this point, I watch it because it's something I've done for a long time and I'm a creature of habit. It's palatable most of the time because these guys (most of them) are working really hard but the politics and the ancient ideals of an outdated promoter keeps the promotion mired in crap.
Why do I keep watching it? 2 Reasons.
One: Because as bad as it can get, it still beats the s**t out of the nine million reality TV shows that flood the airwaves.
and
B ) I want to see how low it will go before it hits rock bottom. I believe once it has, it will get reworked and become a great program once again.

It really isn't that bad. It isn't always great, but it's not as bad as you think. Some people don't watch it because they honestly don't like the product, and that's alright. Others, don't watch it because they are sheep to the IWC. The only thing that would make them watch was a Stevie Richards title run and a burning of Vince McMahon at the steak. Whether they like it or not, the WWE isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Dispite how bad they think it is, most fans don't follow the internet stuff, so the WWE still has a very long life ahead of it.

I've watched since i was 3 or 4 years old. so I've been a fan pretty much my whole life. i stopped watching wrestling once, after Vince bought wcw. i got back into it in late 2004 and haven't looked back since. i can't really answer the question of why i still watch, i know that a large portion of wwe is crap and sucks but i tune in every Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. it seems that wrestling fandom is so much embedded in me that i can't just ignore it.

Its been showing a little improvement lately. I think people need to start realising that the Attitude era is never going to be recreated because times have changed - Vince is even more about corporate tie-ins and celebrity involvement seemingly than ever before. You guys are right, it could be worse. It's not like starts like Liberache, the Rockets, and Mahamad Ali are all showing up at the same show.

The WWE is like heroin. It's fun at first but next thing you know you're addicted even though it doesn't make you high any more.

Because it's still better then most of the crap on tv Nah, there's actually a lot of good shows these days. Seriously, even on the networks, they went from having utter crap everywhere you look to suddenly carrying shows like 24, Lost, etc. that are actually really well done. It's actually kind of creepy how sudden it was. Not to say that people should HAVE to like those shows more than WWE, since that's entirely subjective, but you know what I'm saying. Not knocking this line of thought, but I've never really understood it. I mean, I've been a Mets fan since the abysmal days of the early 90's, and even when they suck I hate to miss a game, but baseball (or any "real" sport, for that matter) and wrestling are two completely different beasts.

Wrestling today isn't half as bad as people make it out to be IMO, if you consider yourself a wrestling fan, and there happens to be free wrestling on TV and you're watching it, then why ask yourself the question? Are you a wrestling fan? Then there's your answer, you still watch wrestling because you like wrestling, obvious answer but what else could it be? I think the only difference between today and say the Attitude era is that people are quicker to point out what they dislike over what they like about a show, we were younger in the Attitude era and maybe more open to different things as far as wrestling went, not that EVERYONE is like that, but I think it's a good reason for a good few people's attitudes on wrestling now, no matter how good Smackdown gets, someone will say WWE's in a rut because they didn't like a segment on Raw, things like that.

I'd love to see a wrestling fan support group. "My name is Ralph, and I have a problem. I first started using just on Monday. But then it was Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday....Then I <sniffle> just started ordering the pay-per-views and I couldn't stop it. I sit there at work, and...and I just think about piledrivers and what Shawn Michaels is gonna say and...and I here a song every time I enter a room. <sob> For the love of god, someone can't even turn their back to me without making me thinking of hitting them with a steel folding chair and rolling them up for the three count. I need help...<whimper>"

Watching bad wrestling is better than watching most of the other boring crap on TV today. I think my watching of all WWE programs can be best described by Lewis Black: "I watch the Superbowl, despite it exponentially getting worse every year. Now you might ask why? Because I have no religion." Or something like that.

The majority of wrestling fans just get a beer and some fried chicken and want to watch some silly entertainment for 2 hours.
The overly cynical smark types are sitting at their computer digging for reasons to complain and anylizing everything with a magnifying glass.
That's why people still watch.

I flat out stopped watching last summer, I just said to myself "Just don't even turn it on tonight, you always find something wrong with it" So that was it, I might've seen an hours worth of footage since then

As bad as Raw is it's better than 90% of crap on TV now.
But for me watching RAW is due to habit
