Well, here's a few reasons I still watch (and troll boards...)
A)It's free. I must say, I haven't dropped $ on a PPV in quite a spell, I haven't attended a live event in next to forever. It costs me nothing to continue. I'm not "supporting" the product by watching a show.
B)I have Tivo. I crap you not. If I had to sit through everything, I probably wouldn't. Having the ability to fast forward through Kelly's Expose or the latest Carito match makes watching the rest of Raw pallatable. (Not that I dislike Carlito, he's just the worst face ever. Heel carlito = only way to go...)
C)My brother stopped watching during the "dark ages", what we refer to as the "Doink Era". I trudged through, and was rewarded with getting to see the NWO & the birth of the Attitude era. Still likely, the best of the best times in wrestling. Who knows? There may be another peak in the horizon. I don't wanna miss it. Yeah, I have to sit through another go round of Chris Masters, but it'll be worth the anecdote someday.
That's just my thoughts...

Personally, I don't watch WWE anymore. I don't watch ANY of their shows, in fact. I still read the results, but that's it. I stopped watching after December to Dismember and it would take something major to get me to come back.

I actually stopped watching. I refuse to give Vince my ratings so I just look up the wrestlers I actually like on youtube.
I enjoy talking about the E more then watching it, some people here put cool gifs up

Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean i, or everyone else doesn't. Although i haven't been bothered to watch any wrestling the past month or so outside the Rumble, you get my point.

Because when it's good, I love it.
And when it's bad, I love to watch it so I can criticise it.

If it wasn't for the advent of DVRs, I don't think I would have made it this long, but I am still somewhat of a regular viewer.
Back when I was in college ('97-'01) Monday & Thursday nights were always booked for wrestling as far as I was concerned. Nowadays, if a WWE show is the only thing on my DVR, I'll watch it, but if I've also got "The Office", "24", any "Law & Order", "The Shield", "Rescue Me", "Criminal Minds", "Curb Your Enthusiasm", or "Scrubs" on there RAW and Smackdown get shoved aside. WWE, in general, doesn't have what it takes to keep my attention anymore.
If I want to see wrestling, I'll go catch a JAPW show in Rahway, NJ

Because I like it.
Firstly, as for the Champions, Big Show was a great Champion, and was the only legit main eventer in ECW at that time besides Rob Van Dam.
Like others say, take the good with the bad, and it's generally good.

There is no real answer I believe. I watch wrestling for a long time until Stone Cold and The Rock left. Then two years later and was watching it again. It is like a drug. You want more of it and you don't know why except for the reason that is good.
Now I am not promoting drugs or something like that.
*cough* *cough* ;D

As bad as Raw is it's better than 90% of crap on TV now. Ugh, no way, man. Raw's been close to unfiltered crap for a few years now, there are tons of shows much more well-made/well-written/well-performed, etc. Sorry, opinion, I know, but Raw is just...God, there's a reason I haven't watched Raw in two years: it just makes me angry.

Frankly if Jeff Hardy and HBK got drafted to SD I could probably stop watching RAW entirely.

I don't. And as someone said, we've done this thread numerous times, so it's only appropriate that I revisit two old posts of mine to explain myself... re: the Monday Night Wars:
I have to agree about "did the end justified the means?" Especially given the hands the WWE has dealt us ever since the MNW's end. I say so because since they don't have any competition, THAT is probably a big reason why they can do what THEY and not the fans want. After all, where's Nitro to turn to now?
On a personal level, while it certainly was not all a bust, I feel that around this time was when the things that made me first become a fan were dying out. As the saying goes, things went from being a "wrestling" telecast to a "TV show about wrestlers," in the quest to be considered pure entertainment. And things remain very much so...and I think aside from other reasons, part of that is because they want the AuStInDoOd0316-type "fad" fans from 1998 back, to heck with the hardcore fans who were loyal for much longer, even back when we feared being beat up at school for admitting we liked wrestling. (24/7 and most of the DVDs are there for the hardcores, though)
Also, it seems that, well...the business is more corrupt than ever. As I said in the Arn/Finlay thread, it seems that the political stories just got uglier and uglier, culminating in the time from the Invasion to now. It's like there's a new story of yes-men, or someone being punished on the air in some bad angle, or undeserved pushes/depushes, or other underhandedness. Maybe I am extra sensitive and see it as people getting hurt or mistreated, though. Still, it got so bad that I was out as a regular watcher by '02. Things were not fun anymore and more mean-spirited all around. (In honesty, part of it is stuff that really happened, and part IWC negativity. Not to discourage opinions, and I do agree with many of them, but I don't like being reminded how dismal things are!) Now the other one... I've mostly given up for the last 4 years...to paraphrase the Harvey Birdman rendition of Fred Flintstone, "You're dead to me, WWE!" Now most of my wrestling watching comes from the odd indy show, or classic footage (either through tape trades or WWE DVDs...fact is, if it weren't for 24/7 and their DVDs, I'd be TOTALLY convinced that no one there has half a brain). TNA sometimes, but generally I think what I know is what more and more of us need to embrace...the classic era is OVER. Whether you consider it to be the Rock 'N' Wrestling boom, or the Attitude Era, or both, you'll never see anything like it again. Partially because there is just ONE major company, of course. Say what you will about WCW, but its presence and the need to compete with it kind of usually kept the WWF in line. Now, as I said before, with no one to threaten them, they can do what THEY want because there's nowhere else mainstream enough to turn to. Have faux-celebrity "matches"? GO AHEAD! Make fun of the dead? NO PROBLEM! There's no one with enough pull to capitalize on bad business moves anymore, so they'll book for their amusement and no one else's all they desire.
I also like the point made in this thread that they are simply following suit with the rest of movies, TV, and music nowadays. Since WWE wants so badly to be "entertainment," it is natural that they follow the downward spiral most mainstream entertainment is in now, and shows no signs of leaving. At least WWE hasn't followed the movie industry and has resorted to booking nothing but remakes of classic angles and matches...oh wait, Cena/Khali = Hogan/Andre II, riiiiiiiiight?
So yeah, it's all over now. The only way for wrestling to be what you remember is to indeed delve into your memories, I think. All that '80s footage and stuff is definitely a sign of a time lost forever.
One more point...I said the WWE was "dead to me." And yet, when I read about what they do and how it frustrates fans and is unfair to certain workers, I still get upset myself, and it even ruins even thinking about anything wrestling for me. This is a stupid question probably, but what would you do to help that?

I have asked myself the original question countless times. I've watched Wrestling non stop from when I was seven (1984) untill early last year. It was practically a religion to me for years, I would (no joke) plan my week around when WWF(I DON'T refer to pre-2002 as WWE.) was on TV, and I always stuck with it, in the early to mid 90's when there were wrestling Clowns, wrestling Garbagemen, and wrestling Dentists, I stuck with it. The biggest problem now is there is no one to care about. in the 80's and early 90's I CARED about guys like Hogan and Warrior, and how they would beat the heels who were challenging them. In the mid 90's I CARED about Bret, HBK, and the other guys, how would the good guys win? I have to watch and see. In the Attitude Era, I CARED about what was going on...how would Austin thwart Mr. McMahon this week?? How would HHH and Steph try to screw over The Rock or Mick Foley??? I have to know!!! This illustrates the main problem I have with WWE today- How is John Cena going to overcome the odds and beat Umaga? I DON'T CARE! I miss the days of there being just one champ. Having three champions way, way devalues all three of them. I almost hope that here is never another huge boom in popularity like the Attitude Era because I'm not fond of fairweather fans. (don't believe me? I'm a Red Sox fan... and was Before 2004 thank you very much.) I finally about 2 months ago realized I was wasting my time with WWE and if I really want to know I'll get the results online, or from you guys on this board, but to be prefectly honest, for the most part, I don't care about what goes on anymore. Sorry to rant, Your Humble Friend and Narrator, Bob Schlapowitz.

I still watch because I want to be entertained. Smackdown, and to a lesser extent ECW, usually deliver in that area. Raw has been hit-or-miss (mostly miss at the moment).

I enjoy wrestling, and getting it on free tv is fastest way to watch. Plus its new all the time, what other show gives you new shows every week. Sitcoms don't, your favorite sports team only plays a few months a year and has an off season. Plus having an DVR helps, as I can watch the shows when I want, and fast foward threw commerials or Rob Conway matches.

If you don't like it there's alternatives to watching it.
If you hate WWE, but are addicted to wrestling just watch impact on thursdays. It should be enough.
Instead of watching Raw you could watch Monday Night Football. You could watch old wrestling tapes or CHIKARA Podcast A Go Go.
Tuesdays there is WSX on the last half hour of ECW. And the first half there is plenty of shows on at 10. Simpsons, South Park. You have alternatives.
Fridays, if you don't like Smackdown and hate Batista then don't stay at home on Friday nights to watch a wrestling show.
Instead of ordering a Pay Per View order an indy DVD. Instead of WrestleMania this year I'm ordering all 3 nights of CHIKARA King of Trios. Way better use of my money.
