Folks have been saying for a long time now that guys like Piper,Hogan and such need to give the in-ring life up and retire or become like a manager/backstage worker.
I think Ric Flair is another legend who needs to be added to that list. He's old, and he should hang his tights up before he gets seriously hurt because of how fragile his bones probably are nowadays. He's is after all in what--his sixties or seventies? he needs to give it up and make room for younger talent.
I like him alot and he may be a legend, but it be better to have a living legend who knew when to retire(and Flair is long past due) in a manager role or working backstage than to have a dead one who died because his age made him more prone to death or serious injury....
It isn't like he's really used for anything worthwhile in the ring nowadays, except one big pathetic joke of a jobber. All he seems to be made out as nowdays is a big clown no one can take seriously.....He's not the kickbutt Flair he used to be and his glory days are behind him--now if he would only admit it.

he's old but can work better then 2/3 of the roster...
Ok, thats my only good reason and I stole it from like 60 percent of what people say on this forum but hey, he still is a good entertainer as long as he plays it safe ya know?

I agree. I can't see why people seem to love his in ring work at this point in time, his matches are boring as hell.

He's an old timer but there's no reason to rid the world of Flair until he fails to entertain. Prepare to wait a while.

He should put on a suit and glasses and become the manager of some young heels. I can see him managing Kenny Dykstra, Randy Orton, Chris Masters, or maybe the upcoming Dan Rodimer.

I don't know about Dan Rodimer, but from what we have seen from his interactions with Randy Orton before they seem to have a fairly good chemestry, He could conceivably be interesting as a manager for Masters--who really needs something as it is because he's so stale,....and Kenny just needs Flair --(or some other legend but preferably Flair) to make him actually entertaining and worth watching! heck, I know Carlito is fantastic but seeing him trained by Flair would be interesting too......

I still find Ric entertaining, but I do worry for him every time he steps in the ring. The blade jobs from taking Conchairtos can't do his health any good either. In last year's MITB match, I seriously thought Flair could die or get seriously injured- I worried for his back after both bumps from the ladder, especially the second where he fell flat rather than on his side, which reduces risk. Flair should become just a manager or the GM again, he can still cut a good pomo but his match skills are not what they were and his age and health mean he puts a lot on the line every time he wrestles. I still want to see Ric, but not as a wrestler anymore. I want him to retire healthy, and even more importantly, alive. Unfortunately he seems like Terry Funk- loves the business too much to stop.

I hate watching Ric take his bumps anymore, too. It's like watching someone beat up my grandpa or something.

I agree with that, but I haven't completely soured on Ric Flair wrestling either, I think Flair should do what Foley's doing and only wrestle every now and again, I don't think he's too old to wrestle, cuz he still does a fine job, but I think that he's old enough and established enough to pick his spots, nobody I doubt in several years will remember the flurry of matches he's been having with Kenny Dykstra but I'll remember the I Quit match with Foley for a lifetime, he should be given more feuds like that. Maybe even make him the dirtiest player in the game again and give him a good title feud with Cena.

If Flair were still winning titles all over the place and beating everyone he wrestled, I might agree that he should stop. But he's not doing that. He still wrestles his ass off and he's not getting hurt. But most important of all, he's not hurting anyone else. He's not hurting anyone physically, and he's defnitely not hurting anyone's career. Being that Shawn Michaels respects the man so much, you'd think he'd take a cue or two from the guy. From what I hear, Flair doesn't have much else left in his life but wrestling. His family is the wrestlers now. He should do everything in his power to keep this family, or the man is going to be another tragic figure. If he wrestles until the day he dies, at least he won't be alone. Keep it up Ric.

His matches are nothing but punches, chops, him getting beat down, low blow, and figure 4 now. I'd like him as a manager again, but he bores me badly now.

His PPV matches in the last couple of years have been decent, but he doesn't get very many. I'm not saying he should get more, but if his job is to wrestle 2 minute TV matches every week, what more can you really expect?

I agree. I can't see why people seem to love his in ring work at this point in time, his matches are boring as hell. Because unlike the younger stars of today, Flair came up from the bottom the old way and thus he has a lot more respect for the sport. He established himself long before he was put on top. As a result he knows how to connect with the fans and draw them into his matches. This is a skill that is seriously lacking in today's so called stars most of whom are put at the top right away without ever establishing themselves. The older stars spent their time protecting the sport and therefor engulfed there roles even when the camera was off. Therefore they seemed real because they were real. Todays stars are only weekend warriors. Once the camera is off (and sometimes even when it's on) they break character. They do not live out their roles and therefor do not seem real to the fans. That's why all of the older stars are preferred over the younger stars. Age has nothing to do with it.

I loved Flair as Triple H's manager. He should stick to something like that if he wants to stay in the business.

He's getting older sure, but can we please stop making these jokes about him being in his 70's? It's a lame joke that all the kids use, makes me wonder why anyone bothers getting into their 50's-doesn't seem worth it. BTW Flair proved he could still go during that ladder match with Edge awhile back

Flair has been too old to wrestle for years now. He should have retired from in-ring performances in '97.
I totally agree that he can still be very useful and entertaining if he were to manage an up-and-comer who can benefit from his mic skills, charisma & legacy.

I don't mind him being around but I'd rather see him in a manager role or giving random wrestlers advice backstage. Chop.
