He's getting older sure, but can we please stop making these jokes about him being in his 70's? It's a lame joke that all the kids use, makes me wonder why anyone bothers getting into their 50's-doesn't seem worth it. BTW Flair proved he could still go during that ladder match with Edge awhile back All he proved was he can take an ass kicking.

I agree. I can't see why people seem to love his in ring work at this point in time, his matches are boring as hell. Because unlike the younger stars of today, Flair came up from the bottom the old way and thus he has a lot more respect for the sport. He established himself long before he was put on top. As a result he knows how to connect with the fans and draw them into his matches. This is a skill that is seriously lacking in today's so called stars most of whom are put at the top right away without ever establishing themselves. The older stars spent their time protecting the sport and therefor engulfed there roles even when the camera was off. Therefore they seemed real because they were real. Todays stars are only weekend warriors. Once the camera is off (and sometimes even when it's on) they break character. They do not live out their roles and therefor do not seem real to the fans. That's why all of the older stars are preferred over the younger stars. Age has nothing to do with it. Quote of the year.

He had IMHO two of the most entertaining matches last year, the ladder match and the Foley "I quit" match. Hell, even his ECW Big Show match was pretty cool. And though the "wrestling" wasn't A+, seeing him and Piper together again set my mark button to "Stun"
He entertains me. I'm sorry he doesn't some of you but I can't make anyobdy enjoy true ring psychology.

I'm still entertained by Flair but he should consider retiring from in ring activity. Looking back a couple years ago I thought he was too old but he looks like a kid in, say, the Taker match at mania compared to now. He's aged alot over this past year. He looks like a senior citizen now.
BTW, does anyone think Kenny should challend Flair to the nature boy gimmick? I think it would get him over huge as a heel to steal one of the most beloved wrestlers of all times identity. He could win it at Mania and come out with the music, the robes and the Wooooo!. Plus he kinda looks like him. The crowd would be hot every time he came out, probably chanting stuff like "You're not Flair" or whatever.

He's is after all in what--his sixties or seventies? he needs to give it up and make room for younger talent. Neither.

If Ric Flair has his way, he'll wrestle until he dies.

His matches were boring 10 years ago, its the same old shit, he is amazing on the mic but his wrestling never really did it for me.

I can understand how peple think Flair's boring nowadays. His style is not the flashy, frantic stuff of today's wrestling. He does, however, possess something some of these kids do not. The understanding of it. Psychology, if you will. In the ring, every moment is sold to the best of his ability. He understands the crowd. He understands exactly who "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair is. Not trying to sound like some "the old ways were better" codger, but whatever it is that makes a wrestler legendary Flair has. Let the man work his beat until he no longer can. Respect your elders, even if they bore you. And as already discussed, Flair would be a sick ass heel manager if taken out of the ring.

He should retire from in-ring action and become a manager of a heel or become a GM.

Falir should be a manager. For his own good.

I don't think he can put on a singles match as good as he used to but the gimmick matches he's done in the past year or so(Extreme rules match with Big Show, I Quit match with Foley and the Last Man Standing and Cage matches with Triple H) I think are f***ing works of art. And even in normal matches, even if he's lost a little bit of luster, I still mark like hell every time he hits a move.

You're not alone man, I hope we haven't seen the last of Ric Flair's truly great matches, I wouldn't mind if they made a second Ric Flair DVD collection and included matches like those on it. Big Show vs Flair extreme rules I thought was absolutely surreal, I never would have imagined 10 years before then that we would be seeing Flair in a match like that ever.

Whether he likes doing it or not, I believe Flair will keep working as long as it takes to secure the lifestyle he's become accustomed to while also paying off two expensive divorces.
That said, I do still find him entertaining at times. And putting Flair in the managrial role of a group of young guys (AND making him their central mouthpiece) would be an awesome idea.

I do wish they'd move him to GM or a mouthpiece, as much as I love the man.. I also kinda wish they'd have given him a last title win when he faced HHH a couple years back
I will say an occasional match would be fun, as has been mentioned the ladder match vs. Edge was really good, cuz it definetely had the vibe of 'holy crap he's gonna pull it off!'

He can still take some pretty nasty Bumps I'll give him that, But i really wish he would just learn to call it a day.
I would personally suggest that he slow's down if he ever wishes to make it to his 60's or even 70's.
Im pretty sure when he first returned to WWE he wasnt suppose to be a Full time Wrestler but a Co GM or something like that.
None the less you've marked your place in Wrestling History Flair. Time to take it easy for awhile.

Ric Flair's relying a lot more on taking ridiculous bumps and bleeding everywhere than he is on psychology these days. I wouldn't mind him at all as a manager, but seeing all the physical abuse (and steroid abuse) he's going through just to increase his paycheck is really sad.

It's pretty much all he's got left, and he can still go, so I don't see any harm in it

I agree. He is too old.
It stretches the suspension of disbelief too far IMO.

I have no problem with a old timer who is 57 or 58 not in his 60's or 70's like some people are claiming putting over some young guys and having some decent matches.
Flair is a Legend like it or not. and by him just jobbing to these guys (kenny Dykstra) it says tons on how he takes his job.(Still wants to work doesnt mind putting the young guys over).it also gets rid of Kennys Spirit Squad image to the fans.
Finlay is 50. 7 Whole years younger than Flair and the Smarks put him over like he invented the cure for polio.(Finaly is higher on the card at this point too) Sure Finaly helps get guys over too but you dont here this board cry retire and become a manager "Finlay" before you get hurt.
If "Rey" "Rey" can have a tittle run why cant Flair put guys over? Cut the guy A Break.

It does matter because when I see a guy with such a saggy physique who LOOKS tired and worn out causing guys double his size and 1/3 his age to look worried or back down, it does look absurd. True Foreman was older, but he had tremendous strength and experience. With Flair, it just doesn't look right. Finlay is older too, but looks far more credible. An occasional match for nostalgia would be alright, but not every week on RAW.
