Here is a poll that compares 2 matches that are so similar in many ways. Bret Hart VS Mr. Perfect at Summerslam 91 and Stone Cold and Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 14. Both had 2 talented workers against each other. Both were excellent matches, both were title changes, and both had the incoming champions with heavy back injuries. And I would like to know which match you perfer compaired to the other one.

Maybe it's nostalgia kicking in, but my first gut and/or spleen reaction was Bret/Perfect. Not to discount what Shawn did for Steve's big push, either, 'cause as we all know, the WM match meant more in the big picture. But just for a match, Perfect/Hart was super fabulous. And Henning lost his singlet at the end, that's awesome!

Bret/Perfect is one of my favourite matches ever. Not that Austin/Michaels wasn't awesome either, cos it was and did so much for the WWF at the time.

First, I don't believe that Austin/ HBK at WM 14 was a "great" match. The match itself was only good due to HBK's back injury and I respect him for really trying to give it a go (especially during the opening stages of the match where he was backdropped on HHH to the outside - his back took a beating).
Second, I don't think you can compare both matches because although Bret was an excellent worker, he didn't have the reputation of being the upper midcard face yet that could carry the WW(F) into the future. This match was his breakout performance and really put him on the map in pro wrestling. Sure, we all know the Hart Foundation, but Bret himself as a singles wrestler would now overshadow any accomplishments the Hart Foundation every achieved. Austin and HBK were already two top draws in the WW(F) when they met at WM 14.

Bret/Perfect @ SumSlam 91 was the first match that made me appreciate the art of a great pro wrestling match. Its basically responsible for me becoming a smark.

Bret/Perfect is, no pun intended, damn close to a perfect match.

How can you compare HBK/Austin with Hennig/Hart...There is no doubt that SS91 had the better match.

Both were absolutely awesome matches. I don't think the Wrestlemania 14 match gets the credit it deserves as a great match. Having said that, it's being compared here to one of the absolute greatest. Bret and Perfect get my vote.

Bret/Perfect. First time I ever saw the Sharpshooter and thought it was the coolest thing I ever saw. Also, I'm fairly biased 'cause SS '91 is my all-time favorite PPV.

I'm gonna take the road less travelled and say Austin/HBK. First of all, i'm not gonna knock Bret/Perfect because it was a great match. At the same time I admittedly find Bret to be the most overrated wrestler of all time, but i digress. In fairness, i'm not an Austin fan either so its not that im just taking this stance because i dislike Bret.
HBK v Austin had much more historical significance because not only was it a great, if not underrated match, it made it clear that Austin was "the man" to carry WWE in the Attitude era.
Both were great matches, cant go wrong either way

You know what is weird? I got the Bret Hart DVD, and have been watching it over a long period of time... and I just don't feel the goosebumps anymore. If I pop in Hulk Still Rules, or the Warrior DVD, or the History of the WWE CHampionship, I ALWAYS get goosebumps for the big matches, or for the entrances. Bret doesn't have that effect on me anymore. I think when I was growing up he was my favorite, but time has eroded that, and that "IT" factor that hooked me into him at a young age, just isn't there anymore.

I love Perfect......I love Hart. That match is one of my first pay per views I really remember. I was four. Thats when i really started following Bret. Its funny even at that young age I loved " Bad Guy" Perfect. Credit Shawn for the match he was able to put on and I really enjoyed the ending but I go with Bret/Curt.

Bret/Perfect
Awsome match on my favourite PPV, it's better when you think what perfect went through to give us that match (He wrestled with a really bad back)
