Figures this thread would degenerate into a thread full of gay jokes. I'm pretty sure that was the intention. Why would anyone ask such a question? Pathetic.

I'm pretty sure it set out to be the set up for one, so it's not as if it had far to fall. Agreed. But this thread has failed, because it has me wishing Patterson would write his autobiography.

Yeah I'd read a Patterson autobiography. I bet the number of stories about backstage WWWF, WWF, WWE stories would be amazing.

Same here, at the very least he'd be able to tell us which of the two stories about how the WWF created the IC title is true (there's the tournament in Brazil one, and then there's the Unifying the North American Championship with the South American Championship one, which is apparently a retcon)

An official but not WWE published Pat Patterson biography would be a great read. You just know that if anyone backstage would know all the gossip it would be Patterson.
And no, that isn't a reference to gay sterotypes of being gossips, its just the fact that he was around and relatively important for a long time. As someone else has said, No Patterson would mean no Royal Rumble (well, not the important one anyway) and that truly would suck.

The real question is: "How many pro wrestlers did Pat Patterson get into?" Sorry.

Does anyone know why the first IC champ got into the sport of Pro wrestling All I know is that he got into the business in the early 1960's in Montréal with Terry and Ronnie Garvin...

Gay jokes aside, it says a lot about Pat's worth to the business that the McMahon's (as well as the AWA and the Northern California promotion) would put him in positions that other wrestlers would have a hard time fitting into. Pat (in spite of his sexual orientation) was and is a natural for the pro wrestling business. Watch any of his matches (pre-WWWF) and you'll see one of the great bump-takers. And his booking ideas have, for the most part, been dead on. Look how pathetic the WWE's booking has been the last few years. Wonder why? Probably because HHH edged Pat out of the WWE, and now his dimwit wife makes decisions in booking, without ever having been a draw in the business (and yes, Pat was a huge draw in the 60's and early 70's, selling out the Cow Palace on too many occassions to count).
Good God, you'd think I wanted to hand over my rump to Pat, the way I'm carrying on. Let's just say I appreciate his considerable contributions to the business, regardless of all the behind the scenes homosexual crap with Steve Lombardi and the infamous interview with Virgil.

To save this thread. It is interesting why Patterson is one of the few gay wrestlers. Perhaps even the only one (at least the only one out of the closet), because I still don't believe Kanyon.
With that in mind it is interesting to wonder why Patterson became a pro-wrestler and not decided to do something else which wasn't so homophobic (which wrestling really is).
