I remember in the run up to their Wrestlemania 3, Randy Savage jumped off the ropes and rammed the ring bell into Steamboats throat.
I'll always remember..
"OH MY GOD HE"S SWALLOWED HIS TONGUE!"
As a young mark I was horrified.

...I loved his intros for WrestleMania, Survivor Series, and the Royal Rumble. I LOVED those Royal Rumble intros. I'm really hoping (though I doubt we'll get it) he does one for this year's 20th anniversary Rumble.

I've been watching some of 24/7 online and he was awful. He would especially mark and side with the faces to a ridiculous level. The play-by-play guy is typically suppossed to side with the faces, but he was like a 12 year old girl, Jeff Hardy fan.

I've been watching some of 24/7 online and he was awful. He would especially mark and side with the faces to a ridiculous level. Looking back, I hated it when he would cheer Hogan on as he scraped peoples' backs and raked their eyes. Totally heel moves yet no one seemed to care. He'd also suddenly denounce people for doing moves that they'd always done. Like when Andre headbutted Lanny Poffo and he busted him open: suddenly a move Andre had been doing for years was the most deadly thing ever done in a ring and he was out to destroy young men's careers.

He was clearly no Gorilla Monsoon or JR,but I could never say that I disliked him as back then I never paid a whole lot of attention to the commentary anyway. His PPV intros when he went into "super shill" mode were awesome though. I also liked it when he introduced the "ULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLTIMATE WARRIOR" ;D

I loved Vince. For my money the trio of Vince, Lawler, and Ross is the greatest announce team of all-time. Joey Styles will always be the best solo announcer in my book.

I never liked him as a commentator, although I did like his "WELCOME EVERYONE" PPV intro. That's about all I really liked, though.

Looking back, he was pretty bad. I watched that Savio Vega/Waylon Mercy match, and there must have been like 20 maneuvers in that match.

I liked him on commentary, but yet somehow at the same time, I know he sucked.

As a kid, Vince was the pandering Babyface announcer. I remember Saturday morning Superstars, (The hour long show) "Hello everyone this is Vince McMahon and with me as always is Jesse "The Body" Ventura amd "The Living Legend" Bruno Sammartino. Vince would kiss up to the Baby faces, Jesse would side with the heels, and chastize McMahon for his double Standards when Vinny would cheer for a Face who was cheatin' "Why don't youcall it like it is McMahon?" and when the heel would cheat "It ain't cheatin' if you don't get caught"
Keep in mind wrestling was directed at a lot of kids, and Vince and Jesse played the Angel and Devil (If ever in doubt as to a wrestlers allignment, the announcers would let you know).
Of course Bruno didn't do jack....(He'd litteraly sit there silent occasionally Jesse would take a shot at him and then he might say something, then during the slo-mo replay of the end of the match, Bruno would add in some pearls of wisdom, stating the blindingly obvious. "THen Machoman gets to the top rope and what elevation he gets off there."
Although my favorite, most entertaining announcing duo was the anatomical encyclopedia Gorilla Monsoon, and Bobby "The Brain" heenan.
