Can anyone please explain to me why I always become enraged and start hurling abuse at the television whenever I watch Kevin Nash's WCW debut on Nitro.
Because he walked out on WWE? No.
Because I was a big Diesel fan and wanted him to remain as Big Daddy Cool (parp parp)? No.
It is because of his speech. His "THIS IS WHERE THE BIG BOYS PLAY. CHECK OUT THE ADJECTIVE - PLAY - WE AINT HERE TO PLAY."
"Play" is a verb damnit!!! Why does this bother me so much? It is being incredibly pedantic. A part from anything else I am sure Kevin was not employed by Eric for is literary skills and I do not think grammar was one of big Ole's prerequisites at the Power Plant.
Yet this bothers me and I know not why.
Does anyone have any examples of insignificant errors made in wrestling (not necessarily grammatical) that have bothered you for no apparent reason other than sheer pedantics?

haha, this reminds me of when I showed one of my buddies from college the monday night wars dvd. He isn't a wrestling fan, but started to get interested.
Then Nash hit that line. My friend laughed, then said, "wow, wrestlers are dumb. no wonder that stuff is fake." then walked away.

[Peter Griffin] Hmm, yes. Shallow and pedantic. [/Peter Griffin]
Just thought I'd throw that out there. I remember hearing that interview and thinking the same thing, though.

Jim Ross (in reference to the Ric Flair/ Mock Foley "I Quit" match): "Two words! Six Letters! I Quit!" He must be doing it on purpose.

Can anyone please explain to me why I always become enraged and start hurling abuse at the television whenever I watch Kevin Nash's WCW debut on Nitro? ... Why does this bother me so much? It is being incredibly pedantic. A part from anything else I am sure Kevin was not employed by Eric for his literary skills and I do not think grammar was one of big Ole's prerequisites at the Power Plant. Yet this bothers me and I know not why. I am a huge fan of The Kliq, but this quote is one of my favorites to get a sure laugh out of myself. Truthfully I laugh about as hard as your temper rises, so I have given it a lot of thought, and I have two answers for you. 1) It was such a pivotal moment in wrestling! Scott Hall showed up on WCW Monday Nitro, and promised friends would follow. But as fans, we know WCW had a way of screwing up a sure thing. If Hall reunited with Diamond Dallas Page, and then Lex Luger joined them, the New World Order would have meant nothing. The fact that it was Big Daddy Cool Diesel standing on the set of WCW Monday Nitro proved that WCW knew what it was doing, and we as fans felt comfortable getting excited about it. We were so willing to get excited about it that we willingly forgave the grammatical indiscretion, and the truth is... most wrestling fans probably don't know the difference. (Of course, I don't mean you, dear reader.) 2) This second explanation should do more to address your outrageous (emphasis on "rage") reaction. But WWE edits almost every little thing that makes them look bad, that makes the wrestlers look bad, or that makes the fans look bad. Yet here it was on "The Monday Night War" (one of their top-selling DVD's) and they leave the segment in tact; unedited, uncensored, and uncooked. As fans, we get the rest of the audio compromised (WW_) but as far as we know, no one made an attempt at a simple voiceover or a quick edit to rectify the error. They just left it as is to make Kevin Nash look uneducated, to make WCW look worse, and to make the fans look dumb. Maybe I am over-reacting, but at least it gives a reason why to be mad at an otherwise innocent error.
