ECW is now my favorite wrestling show.
Just a terrific match between Punk and Morrison tonight. Both guys got an offense and looked great. Sure, there were a couple of botches, but they recovered well and really looked liked they were working their butts off.
I would have preferred a more gimmicky ending like the various scenarios people foresaw, actually - one guy or the other gets the pin just after time expires or even just having the clock run out of Punk gets his title shot but neither guy actually wins decisively, or really anything but Punk's lame GTS (though Johnny sold it well), but that's forgivable.
The biggest problem ECW has right now is that they have to deal with crowds that are worn out from Smackdown and don't know who anybody on the roster is except for Punk. If they could just break out of Smackdown's shadow and establish themselves with the crowds so you don't have really talented guys coming out to Conway pops and the action unfairly undercut by near-silence every week.

As much as I like the feel of watching a live show, I really wish they would tape ECW before Smackdown! so the crowd is more alive for it. The show last week was good but, made even better with a crowd that was into it.

Agreed. I think the way to do it is to get them over on RAW or SmackDown, THEN move them to ECW, not the other way around. Make them look like superstars on the main programs, then when they move to ECW, they make that brand look better and not like a farm league.

Yeah, ECW is awesome, with the exception of the crowds. The last 2 weeks were good because they were on the west coast, so ECW went live first and the crowd was fresh. But I think a bigger problem is just the fact that Smackdown is supposed to be the "family friendly network tv show".
So why would you put the "late night cable, edgier, supposedly hardcore" show with it? Thats a big reason for the bad reactions. Half the people there are little kids in Batista shirts and Rey Mysterio masks who couldnt pick Tommy Dreamer out of a lineup if their lives were on the line.
It breaks my heart everytime Balls Mahoney starts doing his punches, and you hear like 10 scattered voices yelling "Balls".

The crowd and the thin roster have always been the brand's biggest problems. I'm starting to think that ECW should set up shop in the East Coast and have some indy regulars in the area join the roster.

I love how much ECW has improved since it's first episode. Most people around here hated it, yet gave it another chance.
No more Zombies or Macho Libre. =D

I don't know if it's because ECW's gotten better, or that the shows around it have gotten worse. I was ready to give up on ECW a few months ago. But honestly, ever since they took the belt Lashley, and Vince blew up, the show's been much better. They've given guys chances to shine, like they said they were going to, and for that, I'm appreciative. Now, if only they'd get another hour and more guys...

As much as I like seeing Punk getting pushed. This is nothing like how ECW was or should been. Tell why it still called ECW? I mean there is nothing Extreme about it.

Yeah lets promote guys like Cena, Kennedy, and Orton to a 1 hour show

Don't you think you might be happier if you stopped worrying about what it's called, let go, and enjoyed it for what it is? It could be called WWE's Pretty Fluffy Pony Bandstand, for all I care.

I like ECW. I really think they need to bring back the tag titles.

You get more wrestling on ECW in an hour than you do on a two hour RAW. I hated the second coming as much as anyone but the show has really improved. It's NEVER going to be the old ECW. Move on already, jeezum crow.
..And why does everybody hate on Punk's GTS? It's pretty much all up to the guy taking it on how good it looks. Or is it just because "HE ARE STEAL FROM KENTA RAWRS!"

Out of all the wrestling boards I visit, this is the only one that is mostly pro-WWECW. Most fans realize WWECW is a sham.

Maybe after 20 more posts telling us what a sham it is, we'll see the light, too. Don't give up hope. I know how hard it is to see people enjoying themselves when they shouldn't be and simply won't listen to reason.

The show obviously still has problems, but it is better than Raw and SmackDown (as well as Impact). Maybe that's because those shows have dipped in quality, but whatever the case I still like ECW better. Personally, I'd like to see a reason for the brand to be called "extreme" too, but I'll settle for what it is now.
The bad news is that whenever ECW starts to get good something bad happens that causes the show to suck again. Remember when people were warming up to ECW before...THAT PPV? I suspect something bad will happen soon since the quality has been good recently. If the ratings are as bad as last week then Vince may completely alter the show.
