No, he was not a wrestler. He was training to be one. Like a kid taking premed classes isn't a doctor. Even still, refs take bumps all the time. I can't even begin to remember all the times I've seen referees take stunners, pedigrees or sweet chin music. Referees are preformers the same way the wrestlers are, just to a lesser degree. The actual difference is that the referee here is a professional, as opposed to a contestant on a reality show. If this was a receptionist or something I might agree, but referees are preformers and take bumps just like everybody else. Split hairs all you like, assault is assault. WWE has not had a consistant past of even punishing, let alone firing talent for it. Especially in a case where there was no intent to cause injury or even pain. Still, as it's been said, WWE is under alert. They might've done it as an example.

They did deserve something, but firing is more than a bit extreme. Especially considering how over they were. And probably the only source of comedy on RAW that didn't involve penis jokes.

Some kind of substance, at any rate. He passed out in a hotel at one point, I think, and I think might of had a drinking problem. Yet another classy move by WWE. Take a talented worker, give him a gimmick where marks will see him as an idiot and smarks will find him annoying, where he also will never get near an important title, then watch him get depressed and start drinking and doing drugs, and then kick him out, have him removed from the arena where he just arrived for work, and basically let him standing out on the street.

They escorted him from the taping? Wow, that's low! Couldn't they have fired him before he travelled all the way to the arena with his gear.

To be fair, Eugene was his idea.

To be fair, Eugene was his idea. True enough. But I still think he was hoping he'd get the chance to break out of it eventually. When he saw that the E's plan was for him, things took a slide. I'm not going to stand here and pretend to know that Nick did or din't have a drinking problem before he became Eugene, but I don't know anyone who ever had a bad thing to say about Nick in OVW. The man made a gimmick work and got it over on his own accord. People loved him for a while, but then it got old. A gimmick like that just does not have legs. Even people got sick of face Doink at a certain time. Nick Dinsmore is, out of all the wrestlers out there today, the one man I would love to delve deep into this situation to see where everything went wrong and to see what his take on the situation is. Unfortunately, I think that now he may be too tainted and would blame WWE too much for his downfall, which is a shame, since he's an incredibly talented guy who deserves better than he got.

I hear it was for an incident with Cade and Murdoch over the finish to a match which was a total cluster...
Let me tell ya Shad is a class act....Me and my buddy dressed up like Cryme Tyme and went to a house show over the summer and we were watching all the guys leave and Shad rolled down his window and high fived us and said our outfits were cool....something he didnt have to do...so hes cool in my books.

I fail to see how Cade and Murdoch are getting heat here. Shad was the one that threaten them in the first place. And it's a house show! Exactly, "stiff shots" and having a bad attitude backstage. Those two bits of information should fill in the holes of this "silly" story. That ref probally shat himself and you can't threaten people with violence in the real world. Especially, if you work with them and you do it infront of your co-workers. I'm sure everyone who witnessed Cryme Tyme's threats and public humilation of the referee were all in favor of releasing them. WWE doesn't need any more backstage drama.

It was a pretty dumb move by them, but I hope to see them back again pretty soon - they both seem like good guys really and I was getting into their schtick quite a lot in recent weeks.

I think the Cryme Tyme release is a bunch of BS. How could you fire these guys and Cade and Murdoch don't get punished at all. They're just as much at fault. Complete BS.

damn. I found them super entertaining.
but if they did something worthy of being released, I trust WWE's decision...they can't be dealing with extra crap right now.
I think Shad handled it really well basically admitting fault and not blaming WWE for it. He actually went so far as to defend them.....thats a shocker coming from any former employee.
hopefully they will be back soon.

Like I said in another thread, we don't know that they wont be punished. They could drop the belts and job for months on end. Just compared it what happened to Cryme Tyme, it wont seems as bad (and imo, it shouldn't)

I give them two weeks before WWE rehires them. Maybe. Worked for Boogeyman. indeed. i doubt they were "hated" backstage like some people (trips). up until now i've never heard anything bad about them at all. anything i heard was "they're nice" they always sign autographs" and "if they dont sign they're gracious about it" good ol' WWE. f***in' up since we were all in diapers. so yeah, big show, brock, angle, cryme tyme, test, bashams, ariel have all been let go in one way or another. wwe is losing ground fast and they better do something before TNA has their 2 hour slot
