SVR 07 hardly used ANY of the 360's power & space
Fire Pro on the SNES (SNES!!!!!) is deeper than than SVR 2007.
THQ/Yukes are just clueless and follow the "style over substance" route

I dunno guys, 60 bucks for some Bone-Shattering Buttsecks posters? Sounds like a bargain to me, although I'm not sure I want my bone shattered. But seriously, after really feeling like I got screwed with '07, and finding some most parts of '06 either annoying and easy, or too hard to the point of being not-fun anymore (that's what she said?), I promised myself I would not buy '08 at all unless 3 conditions were met. They weren't things that I, then or now, considered beyond THQ's most basic abilities. So I figured if all 3 conditions were met, then "adequate work, THQ, you can count on my $60 in November." And if they weren't met then it would be proof enough for me that THQ's/WWE's agenda when it comes to wrestling games is on a complete and major disconnect from what I want as a consumer. Those conditions were as follows: 1. Sabu is in the game, either on the main playable roster or as a playable legend. (Check) 2. The Triple-Jump Moonsault is in the game, with full chair interaction and can be done by Sabu regardless of any weight-class or fighting-style restrictions. (Check) 3. The Arabian Face-Buster is the game, with the same sub-conditions as #2. (Check) As you can probably tell, I was more than a little peeved at having to mix Chavo's "pointing up at Eddie in heaven" entrance, Jericho's Lionsault, the Harlem Hangover, Dropping the Dime, and Tazz's towel (closest thing in the game to a keffiyeh/ghutra) to make a half-way decent Sabu. It took several tries, but eventually I found enough layer space (on the PS2 with only 33 layers, mind you) so that he could the single pair of baggy pants included in PS2's CAW, with the white stripes on the side covered-up, the armband with "SABU" scribbled on it, the body scars, and a thing I found in "Make-up" that added a bunch of bloody cuts on the forehead; I made them a dark brown and blended them into Sabu's skin a little bit, to make them more like scars instead of open cuts and it really gives him that weathered look that none of those idiots on caws.ws seem to care about. I'm still honestly thinking we might be a little (pleasantly) surprised at the choice of moves in CAW mode this year, if little else. So far we've seen reanimations of the RKO, the Tombstone, Sweet Chin Music, and the Overdrive, and that goes double for the RKO with the 2 vids Godz posted, and I noticed on HBK's IGN countdown that his default finishers are "Sweet Chin Music 1" and "Sweet Chin Music Pin 2", the latter is in an IGN video, and I'm assuming the former is the same one that's been in the last 5 games, and which was the ONLY SCM in '07. And, unless IGN f'ed up, there are at least 2 more SCMs in the game, one pinning, one non. But there's always the possibility that they just took out every move not associated with a current or recently employed WWE superstar. And that would mean that Godz's "Gladiator" Mike Awesome CAW would have to use the Batista Bomb for a finisher, and I'm pretty sure none of us wants that, for it would dishonor us all. QFT. My Awesome CAWs have been disgraced enough over the years...oh how I long for the days of Shut Your Mouth, where Super Powerbomb 2 could launch someone out of the ring and through a table if you lined it up juuuuuuuust right.

So I played the demo some more last night and I STILL cannot make Taker do a running dive over the top rope (I refuse to play as Rey and see if he can do it) but I bet since he's not a "high flyer" they took that ability away from him, therefore making him inaccurate and rendering Mike Awesome CAWs even more useless than ever.
Also, I'm betting that they took out the cable choke hotspot move because of friggin' Benoit.

Well ok, at least they MIGHT have fixed that problem. Yeah, that's definitely an improvement if they indeed fixed it. That move always drove me batcrap f***ing loco when someone did it in SVR2007.

The sad thing is we all complained about the fact that really huge guys like Mark Henry and Great Khali had the ability to do suicide dives when they've NEVER done that crap before in their lives much less been able to.
To remedy this, THQ introduced fighting styles that forced the larger wrestlers that can fly to suddenly be grounded, when in reality a more effective measure would've been to...oh...i dunno, give us the option to NOT have a move in a specific slot?
Course that pretty much sums up the SvR series as a whole: Great Concept, terrible execution.
either that or "Too many features"

It's unrealistic to have small guys throw behemoths around, so they make it so cruiserweights literally bounce off of heavyweights, even if their not that much heavier than the other guy. Even FPW and No Mercy could figure that out. The lack of proper balance and ability to have wrestlers be closer to their real-life counterparts will always be this series' greatest downfall.

Well until their sales figures take a heavy hit from this kind of nincompoopery they're just going to keep doing it. So I'm sincerely hoping for that to happen this time around, however unlikely.

The problem is going to be that this is the first game on PS3, so that right there will probably bolster sales. I don't think FPWR will cut into that that deeply, as everyone's creaming themselves over the next gen, but at least there is an option now for this shallow as a puddle crap.

Good times.

I actually play Showdown Legends of wrestling more. YEAH, THQ,YOU'VE SUNK THAT LOW! Certainly they haven't sunk THAT low? I mean, as disappointing as SVR games usually are, Showdown is something much, MUCH worse. Oh well, at least you're not playing Atsushi Onita FMW. Okay, not really that low. I just got it a few weeks ago and the novelty of playing with the older guys has not worn of yet. Also Sabu vs. Terry Funk vs. Abdullah the butcher is still fun. Sabu actually in a video game is the real fun. The one thing that game actually does well, is that punches/kicks and some grapples sense whether the opponent is on the left or right. For some reason i really liked that.
